raebear, your progression of 1973-74-75 is just so great.
Me (right) and my brother Steve ready for school at Madison Rose Lane in Phoenix in the late 60s. We lived at the Villa J apartments while dad went to school at GE. Dad's bike was a Yamaha. He had lots of bikes over the years and I owe my love of riding to him. One time when he had a Suzuki TS185 he took my brother and I BOTH on it to the car races at Glen Este or Tri-County Speedway in the Cincinnati area. I remember that LONG TIRING ride home hanging on to each other trying to stay awake. I bet we gave him fits flopping around back there!
My brother on dad's Yamaha late 60's Phoenix, AZ. I remember back then thinking how big and massive that bike was. Funny isn't it how things change?
Circa 1978 in San Francisco. My brother on his Yamaha 125 and me on my MT125. Back when we used to go riding on San Bruno Mountain (they would throw you jail for doing that nowadays).
He won this Schwinn at the Loveland, OH Kiwanis Club Kid's Day celebration around 1952. He said he bragged all morning that he was going to win it. The first and second names they drew weren't present to win and his name was called third...
Sweet memories I'm sure. I only wish I'd taken many more pics as you did during my early years of riding.
What I would give to have pics of my old "yellow banana" probably late sixties Allstate scooter, Honda 65, a CB 350 and even a Honda 450 chopper..yech.
Now at age 56 I ride a GSA but still have dreams of finding that old "banana".
Thank you for the great and moving pictures.
jbar- thanks, all those delivered papers and mowed lawns paid off.
All you dads out there take note, these bikes were earned, not given. And they meant a lot more because of that.
Was out in the garage today when a mother and two boys age six and four walked by, and asked if they could come in and look at the motorcycle. I had the kids climb up on it, and they had a great time making all the right noises (even in German they are the same!) and the six year old told me he is going to have a blue moto with a lightning bolt on it when he grows up! Wish I'd taken their picture, but having read through this whole thread last night, I felt like I was living in it 20 years from now. Cool feeling.
great pictures. i got to dig some up to post!

Dusti- thats bitchin!
It was a bike from the 80's that some grandpa got for his grandson that never rode it. It was cherry when I got it for Christmas around 1994 and still in good shape when I sold it. Saw it for sale in someones front yard about 4 years after I sold it. NOT nearly as cherry anymore. At least they had fun.

And a few more not exactly motorcycles but still........... Saved up my money and bought that gocart for $75. First introduction to combustion engine fun....

I could not resist putting couple more photos for sake off good old days.
Another KZ 1300....slightly modified.
This was taken in 1982. I was sitting on my brothers old Yamaha. I wonder what size bowl my mother used to cut my hair... I'm also digging my knee high socks.
On my first bike, a Honda XL 125 (lovely bike!) in 1973 - Johannesburg, South Africa
I wish I could remember what years these bikes were.
Suzuki TS 75
Unfortunately, I can't find the pic circa 1966~'67 of me with my dad sitting on his BSA. Gotta find it. And going through my stuff, it kind of amazes me that I don't have a single photo of my first bike ('76 XS360C) or my last one ('79 KZ650C). I did manage to find a single shot of me and my '79 RD400F Daytona Special, taken in autumn 1983. Damn, I wish I still had that bike.
My 1st bike 1978 CB360T I am 18 in the picture. Taken in 1980.
