This 2 port vacuum tool has a built-in tachometer that displays with both Balance mode and Gauge mode for accurate tuning and synchronizing of both carbs & throttle bodies. We are doing a final run of 300 of the original Harmonizers. Unfortunately the vacuum sensor in the design is NLA and the pcb has to be re-designed for a new sensor. These final units of the original design are available on our KATDASH web site at: http://katdash.com/harmonizer/ while they last.

The original thread for Grok’s Harmonizer is here: https://advrider.com/f/threads/harmonizer-vacuum-multi-tool-it-aint-your-daddys-twinmax.701625/ and you can read reviews and discussions of the tool. The Harmonizer gained in reputation and popularity with both home and professional mechanics. After his death, the final few Harmonizers available were going for $350 and up at auction. One sold for $500.

    Paypal and credit cards accepted.

The Harmonizer is a small, portable, battery-powered, Vacuum Multi-Tool intended to aid power-sports engine tuning and diagnostics. It works for both carbureted and fuel injected motors. In addition to vacuum and RPM measurements in both differential manometer (balancer) mode and single –port gauge modes, a few utility/camping/touring features have been included.

Please see the bottom of this page for some use instructions and video links.

    Vacuum Measurement and Tachometer Functions:

The Harmonizer has two vacuum measurement modes that both include tachometer functions. Balancer mode and Gauge mode. In both modes, the Harmonizer measures the timing of the vacuum pulses to calculate and display RPM.

Balancer mode displays the difference in vacuum at the two ports. There is a center-zero representation similar to an analog meter, and a numeric representation in the range of ±999mbar. A smiley face appears if the vacuum difference is 0± 25mbar. The “needle” sensitivity auto-ranges. If you exceed the limits of the display, the sensitivity of the “needle” is cut in half. The numeric display always resolves to 1 mbar. In Balancer mode the tachometer is calibrated for 4-stroke motors with one cylinder per intake. In Balancer mode, for 2-strokes or motors with 2 cylinders per intake, you must divide the tachometer reading in half.

Gauge mode is a digitally damped vacuum gauge, intended to measure vacuum on intakes that support one or two cylinders. Only one Harmonizer port is used. The other is left unconnected. A left-zero meter representation is displayed along with a numeric representation in the range of 0.00-29.00 in Hg. Gauge mode can be used to adjust idle speed with the tachometer function and mixture (carburetor) with the tachometer and/or gauge function. Gauge mode can also be a powerful diagnostic tool.

In Gauge mode, if you use the yellow port, the tachometer is calibrated for 4-stroke motors, 1 cylinder per intake. In Gauge mode, if you use the red port, the tachometer is calibrated for 4-stroke motors, 2 cylinders per intake (or two-stroke motors, 1 cylinder per intake).

    Features:
§ Two calibrated vacuum measurement modes with tachometer functions.
§ Reliable, all electronic design, with digital signal processing and no moving parts.
§ Large, easy to read LCD display. No bouncing needle or parallax errors.
    § Auto Range
    § Auto Zero on power-up.
    § Automatic display backlight.
§ Rugged housing with a clear Lexan top.
§ Vacuum hoses are removable. They attach to the unit with a finger tight, twist on Luer connector.
§ Swivel-hook on top for hanging/ attachment. Will operate in any orientation.
§ Auto shutoff after 5 minutes of inactivity (except beacon & timed lantern modes)
§ Internal voltage regulation and Battery Voltage indicator.
§ Bright white LED included for convenience & utility.
§ Input button is recessed to prevent inadvertent activation and breakage.

    LED modes:
    Toggle LED on/off
through menu or by a double press of the button for a quick flashlight function.
Timed Lantern Mode illuminates the LED for 15 minutes then power off. During timed lantern mode a single button press resets the timer to 15 minutes.
Beacon Mode flashes the LED in a randomly selected, 5-flash, repeating sequence. Potentially useful as an emergency flasher or locating beacon. Beacon mode does not time-out. It will persist until the mode is changed or the battery is dead.

Actually, There is no warrantee per se. The problem is, the vacuum sensor is NLA and we only have the 300 sensors that we've put on the circuit boards that we have.
Each gauge is fully tested to be working before we ship. If you have any problems with it in the 1st year, we will make every attempt to diagnose and repair it, but if it's the vacuum sensor- it will not be repairable. Sorry.
If it's any reassurance, I've been using my original one that I bought from Grok for 6 years with no issues, and I know lots of other folks who have had no problems as well.

Sorry... WE are TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK
We had 60 built and ready to ship, and we sold all of them in about 15 hours. We still have over 200 circuit boards left to build so there are more coming. We're going away this weekend to visit the kids though, so you're going to have to wait a couple of weeks for the next batch.
Yikes, I knew they would be in demand, but I didn't anticipate this! I spent 4 hours yesterday just packing and labeling the shipments and I only got though about 40 of them. Back at it this morning.
Thanks for all the orders! I will get them all shipped out today-

I was a part of the development of the original Harmonizer. They are a great tool. Hopefully the new owner will be smart enough to not only make them available in sufficient quantities, but not try to gouge the buyers with unrealistic prices! :deal

Kat's going to keep the website current on status.

    the Harmonizer,

... parts ... etc., from Mark Von Striver's (Grok) daughter, there were enough parts for a bit over 300 units. They have been assembling, testing, selling/shipping...etc. At the moment, I think they are assembling some more. Sometime this Summer, give or take, they will probably run out of parts, and will be redesigning and updating the Harmonizer. I think some parts (the sensor?) are NLA, so an update just on that account is warranted.

Hi Guys, Sorry to everyone that missed the first batch of 60. We sold them out in 15 hours. I had no idea that they would go that fast.
I took the "Order Now" button off, because I don't want to get a huge backlog built up, when we don't even have the parts built yet. We have 220 pcbs left for the original V1, so there are a bunch more coming.

We are NOT doing a waiting list, or pre-orders. Lots of folks have been emailing about that. I'm not going to do it. I don't want to take money for something I don't have in stock yet. Unfortunately it is taking a while to get the next batch built. We are continuing to have a huge problem with the displays. We're getting a 20-40% failure rate when we bench test. Then those displays have to be de-soldered and replaced. We've contacted the display manufacturer and they have not been very helpful.
We're working on it. Please be patient.

    Thanks for your support-

    HARMONIZER

    A 2-port Adventure Vacuum Tool

Thank you for choosing the Harmonizer. You made a good choice. Fast. Accurate. Portable. Versatile. Foolproof.

The Harmonizer is a small, portable, battery-powered, Vacuum Multi-Tool intended to aid power-sports engine tuning and diagnostics. It may be used to help tune motorcycles, watercraft, snow machines, ultralight aircraft and more. It works for both carbureted and fuel injected motors. In addition to vacuum and RPM measurements in both differential manometer (balancer) mode and single-port gauge modes, a few utility/camping/touring features have been included.

    Features-

Two calibrated vacuum measurement modes with tachometer functions.
Reliable, all electronic design, with digital signal processing and no moving parts.
Large, easy to read, LCD display. No bouncing needle or parallax errors.
Rugged housing with a clear Lexan top.
Vacuum hoses are removable. They attach to the unit with twist-on (finger tight), Luer type connectors.
Swivel-hook on top for hanging/attachment. Will operate in any orientation.
    Auto Range.
    Auto Zero on power-up.
Auto shutoff after 5 minutes of inactivity (except beacon and timed lantern modes).
Internal voltage regulation and Battery Voltage Indicator.
    Automatic display backlight.
Bright White LED included for convenience and utility. The LED is bright enough to illuminate a timing hole in daylight. Input button is recessed to prevent inadvertent activation and breakage.

    Human Interface-

Simple one-button interface. Press/release button and wait for Auto-Zero calibration. The unit is now ready in balancer mode. To access other modes and menu options, hold button pressed until desired function appears. Then release button.

    Modes and menu selections

Zero, Power Off, Toggle LED, Balancer Mode, Gauge Mode, Timed Lantern, Beacon, Info (displays version and internal sensor voltage).

    Vacuum Measurement and Tachometer Functions-
The Harmonizer has two vacuum measurement modes that both include tachometer functions. Balancer mode and Gauge mode. In both modes, the Harmonizer measures the timing of the vacuum pulses to calculate and display RPM.

Balancer mode (differential manometer mode) displays the difference in vacuum at the two ports. There is a center-zero representation similar to an analog meter, and a numeric representation in the range of +/- 999mbar. A smiley appears if the vacuum difference is 0 +/- 25mbar. The "needle" sensitivity auto-ranges. If you exceed the limits of the display, the sensitivity of the "needle" is cut in half.

A left-zero meter representation is displayed along with a numeric representation in the range of 0.00-29.00 inHg.
Gauge readings are affected by altitude and weather (barometric pressure). By definition, gauge readings are with reference to atmospheric pressure.

    LED modes-
Toggle LED on/off through menu or by a double press of the button for a quick flashlight function.
Timed Lantern Mode illuminates the LED for 15 minutes then power-off. During timed lantern mode a single button press resets the timer to 15 minutes.
Beacon Mode flashes the LED in a randomly selected, 5-flash, repeating sequence. Potentially useful as an emergency flasher or locating beacon. Beacon mode does not time-out. It will persist until the mode is changed or the battery is depleted.

Tachometer and internal timing accuracy: +/- 0.5% @ 23C (+/- 2% over full operating temperature) RoHS compliant, CE compliant

    IMPORTANT Notes on Use-

Follow all safety procedures. Ensure your motor is adequately cooled during tuning and/or diagnosis. Do not leave a running motor unattended. The Harmonizer is NOT waterproof. It should not be submerged or used in the rain.
Use on turbocharged motors in boost is not recommended.

The supplied vacuum hose is rated from -40F to +257F. It will melt if it contacts exhaust headers, exhaust manifolds, or catalytic converters. There are restrictor tubes installed inside the hoses approximately 4 inches from the motor end. They work in conjunction with the hose volume to "snub" peak pressure impulses. They protect the Harmonizer sensor from backfire, racing motors with large valve overlap, motors with damaged intake valves, and motors that have large vacuum orifices (> 1.5mm). These restrictors should remain in place and the hoses should not be shortened.

The gauge function can be used on motors with 3 or more cylinders/intake (like a car) but the tach function may not work reliably and may not work at all (due to diminished vacuum pulse amplitude attenuated in the plenum) and the gauge is much more heavily damped than it needs to be for such motors.

The Harmonizer is extremely sensitive. Large temperature changes during use can affect the "zero" point (offset). If the "needle" doesn't return close to zero after switching the motor off, re-zero the unit and repeat the measurement. Avoiding direct sun and a changing temperature environment minimizes the need to re-zero.
The clear polycarbonate cover is very durable. But it can scratch, and it can be discolored or melted by a few aggressive solvents or extreme heat.

The battery voltage indicator icon displays only battery voltage. It is not always a precise indicator of how much energy the battery has left. Sometimes battery voltage can recover a bit after a period of rest.

Warranty: One year parts and labor or replacement.

    Hello KatCon85 and fellow inmate.

The noobs rally is in 2 weeks where we will hold the fundraising for charity. In the past Grok had supported this event.

Any chance you could continue to be a sponsor? I am aware it's out of stock but later when they become available a raincheck is highly appreciated.

    Hi all,
Just checking in. Hope all of you are staying safe out there and having fun working on your bikes in this Pandemic disaster. We are currently hiding out, out of state with family. We are normally located about an hour north of NYC - the heart of the pandemic and deaths in the US. Unfortunately this means there will be further delays with the next batch of Harmonizers. We've built a bunch, but cannot test them as the test rig is down in NY. I'm sorry about the delays, but there's not a lot I can do about all this.
    Stay safe everyone-

HARMONIZER (& Katdash) UPDATE for late May during the Covid 19 Mess we’re all living through.

Some of you may know that our office & home is located in downstate NY, about 45 minutes north of NYC. The City, and surrounding counties have been hit with massive infection rates and the most deaths in the US. We have been hiding out in NH with relatives since early March because I almost died from pneumonia when I was 40. I survived it and went on to raise my family and ride my bike with ½ of a right lung, which puts me at a significant risk from this virus.

I know many of you are frustrated with our long delay with having the rest of the Harmonizers available. Believe me, we are just as frustrated. We are building them, however the test equipment (ie my bike) is in NY and we are unable to do the final bench & function test until we can go safely back to NY. As of this writing, downstate NY is still completely shut down, except for the essential services, and infection rates are still going up, though slowing, thank goodness. And if that wasn’t enough of a problem, I herniated a disk in my spine and had to have surgery on that last week. I’m feeling a lot better- but still moving a little slow.

The current plan is to head back to NY in early June, and we hope to have to office open again June 15th. I will post again as soon as I know when the Harmonizers are tested, packed and available to ship. Thanks for your patience, stay healthy all-

    Kat
