Did some trail-running today up in the Big Bear area to check on R-Dubb's map prowess. Some of it looked like this:

And some of it looked like this:

Brace yourselves, boys: it's going to be "epic" at an Iron Butt Rally level.

Wow, impressive! Did you go through okay though? What about someone not riding its GS as well as you do?

Looks like not everyone will be able to handle 2 weeks in a row of such trails :lift

:hair Yikes....I was a little afraid of that. I'll wait for a run-down.......sure hope theres an easier way. Don't want to wipe-out the entire group before we even get to LaLa Land.

I got lucky (not scot-free, but minimal damage), but then once I started down it there was no other choice. This isn't something people should even know is there for the "PCQ" - I'll route `em around it.

Endurance is definitely going to be a factor. I was really glad to see the pavement at the end! :nod

    Its getting me excited.

The reality will likely be some rock scars, but the feeling at the top will be so sweet.

That would be great! Can you do from Fish Camp to Route 4? I can set you up with a route file. Do you have a GPS on that beast? I can also provide you with an Eldorado USFS map with the draft route highlighted. Jean-luc and cRAsH are doing from Lake Isabella to Fish camp in a few weeks, otherwise I'd aim further south.

If you ever go up towards Lassen, that area needs work too!

Yeah, actually the route you gave me goes up to the 120 but chances are we will have no time to go further than Fish camp. Maybe Boejangles should start from the North and let me know how far he goes South...

It's up to BJ, but since the route is organized from south to north, it easier to track things in a similar direction. No big deal, I just know, I tend to miss forks and stuff scouting the opposite way.

I also think it is safe to say that if BJ starts at Fish Camp, you will be relieved to have made it all the way, when you get there. :):

R-dubb - As I'm sure we are camping for at least most of the trip, should any camp areas on the route be marked just as potential spots??

Sure, why not.....although there are many campground opportunities to be found on the USFS maps, and we have no- friggin'-clue as to how the days will break. More important will be gas in out of the way places. Mom & Pop gas stops don't appear on GPS maps and can be a life saver if reliable. Otherwise, there are a few sections where we might have to go 25 or 30 miles off route to find fuel. I have organized the GPS route to show the suggested fuel stops I have info about.

Just say the word Bro. When do you want to head out?

Everything between Lake Tahoe and the Oregon border is wide open. In a few days, I plan to post a chart with scouting status for each section. There's some really good stuff to do between I-80 and Quincy. I know a lot amount about the area, but haven't run all the roads that work for this route.

Only problem is......I'm not goin' anywhere. The wrist is out of action for at least two more months. So, you gots to find a different partner, I'm afraid. You like how I do this? I can't ride; so I come up with this vicarious plan to keep a bunch of under-employed ADVriders romping around the country side on my behalf. :rofl :rofl
