I can't say as my carbs are still on the bench, but the guys that I know that have done the soak on their Hondas haven't had problems.

I made sure to blow out all of the passages with compressed air after the high pressure rinse -

Has anyone tried Pine Sol as a chain lube? Face shield cleaner? Oil additive? ;-)

Chain lube - no- it will remove lubrication.

Face Sheild cleaner - I have no idea how that would work, but I know how it would smell.

Oil additive - no way Jose- the pine oil would break down the oil - it's a cleaner, not a lubricant.

Where was this idea last year when I was resurrecting an '81 CB750? I had the carbs off that thing more times than I care to mention.

The method that worked for me was boiling the individual bodies in distilled water (from a post on cb750c.com, IIRC). I got a thrift store crock pot with a plastic lid, drilled a couple of holes in the lid, and hung the carb by safety wire so it wouldn't rest on the bottom of the crock pot. Let it cook for 30 minutes or so and blow out all the passages with compressed air. Worked great, but I still had to clean the outsides to make them pretty. Breaking the carbs apart isn't too bad, and it gave me a chance to replace the o-rings between the carbs and inspect the air cutoff valves.

Next time around I may have to try Pine-Sol in the crock pot, set on low for an overnight soak. And maybe safety wire a sander to it.

Works well but bothers kittens too. :rofl

What about putting a fishtank bubler in with the parts to help the process.

Now this is more news I can use! Mice chew on the snow blower all summer, and nest in the lawn mower all winter. Never really liked the idea of using moth balls. Pine-Sol in the shed I can live with. (And maybe the smell of it will cover up the smell of the garbage can.)

I haven't figured out how to quote previous posts, but I just washed two
bikes with PineSol and was wondering if the new and improved aroma is
as effective at pest control as the old pine smell. I was planning to forward
this thread to friends in the Sierra who are having lots of problems with
marmots. Those souls heading for Mineral King have been fighting these
beasts for years. Rumor has it that they can disable a vehicle within a
couple of days by eating the wire insulation and/or rubber parts. Defense
has gone so far as wrapping all access with chicken wire and/or leaving the
hood up while away(apparently the marmots don't like light).

Don't recall what caused me to try it but sprayed a bunch of box-elder bugs (fuck bugs) with pine oil from a garden sprayer and they all died pretty quickly. :clap

Hi i am doing the pinesol degreaser right now and pulling them out this evening, i am assuming i just rinse with water? and how thorough? I plan to hang all the parts from the roof of the shed with tie-wire to dry thoroughly. any suggestions other to this?
