It's gonna be an interesting few days...
Uploading pics now...
There’s an event this weekend in Ridgecrest!!!
The happenings are Saturday & Sunday (Sunday being the big day … the event!). But some of the top riders came out a couple days early to check out the terrain. Time to re-arrange my schedule & burn out there with some cameras!!! Among those who flew in are the current 125-class world champion!
BUT … the adventure started before I event showed up at the event. I rolled into town a bit early, so decided to head to a Starbuck’s to use the internet …
Some cars decided to try some trials riding right in front of the coffee shop…
Funny thing was … one of the guys that got HIT ended up in cuffs for fleeing the scene…
…then returning for an X-Box that was left in the car.
Any rate, stuff got interesting before the motos entered the narrative…
Before long I rolled into the trials site:
And the guys started practicing…
The two photos above are a sequence by the way…
There were some climbs to be done…
Proper way to dab…
Some trail riding…
And … here’s a climb. Balance on the two rocks like you see in the photo – then up the left side of the frame.
More to come in a minute…
more pics please
Photo/sequence essay to follow I have to collect my thoughts to describe this stuff :eek
AND WHAT FOLLOWS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE ABOVE SEQUENCE!!!
What goes down, must come up
Lets give that um, climb another shot with a mid-air correction for good measure
And another up.
A bunch of the guys took a quick break to look for new trails.
If any of you guys can make it out bring the dualsports!!! GREAT riding around here & they attract attention besides
CHECK OUT THE LINE! FRONT TIRE HAS TO RIDE THAT … ridgeline?
And that's NOT a trivial drop to the left where Adrian is standing...
Riding the "ridge of death" is enough ... but you have to hop from that line to the next rock.
And another downhill
Some examples of tire placement.
There is no room for error here.
Place front wheel, turn left...
Place rear wheel, turn right...
Then get on your 950 & go upload photos...
If Hair doesn't break down and sell me his 300 Gasser soon!
If you've never checked out a trials event - I HIGHLY recommend this one! In two years of competing I've only been to one event where there were pros, & that was a national! This event has a handful that all flew in from England, including a world champ!
The area is great for dualsporting also...
Going on a 950 ride in the morning with a few of the guys tomorrow ... should be interesting, I'll try & upload some photos if there's time.
More practice riding Friday, a class on Saturday, then the actual event on Sunday!
Where around Ridgecrest is this being held? I can't make it there this weekend, but would sure love to ride that area next time I'm through in Spring.
I think we are getting a national at Sipapu, NM next summer.
Errin, you payin' attention?
Oh man!!! I can't wait Inte! Those are amazing pics. So are you taking a class on Saturday after all?
Works been kicking my ass for the last 2 days, so it'll be nice to get out there.
Awesome moves !
Great pictures too
Yep, great stuff! Ya know, been riding for over three decades now and haven't ever sampled a trials machine. I know I'd suck worse than anyone else has ever sucked, but they just never fail to look to cool to me in mechanical/aesthetic terms, and I really wanna ride one sometime.
Inte, great pics! Whatever camera you're using obviously works well - the pics are so clear and sharp in detail. You're going to have a great time this weekend watching the event.
I saw a World round in Watkins Glen, NY several years ago and still have the memories etched in my mind of the amazing things these guys do on their bikes.
Hope you post more pics after the weekend.
Only Gods gan ride like this.
