I thought I’d post up this ride I’m going to attempt this spring. There are
logging roads part way in, but the rest is as yet unknown. Of course, I’ll
post up a ride report in May, when I actually try this.

    Here’s the story:

The ride in will be on some old logging roads. The GPS says it
can get me part way there. The last 11 km as the crow flies, well, anything could
    happen.

This isn’t a long ride, as far as distance goes. I expect by the
end of the day, it’s going to fell like it though!

And if he can make it up, Leon (MRiderLeon) on the 'Strom

WE may have to lend Leon one of the spare bikes!

What for? How about I just buy a set of knobbies to put on after I get there?

Or am I expected to trailer the extra bike so we have a spare if one breaks down?

    Leon.

You are completely welcome. If you don't have my phone number and address, I can PM you. Tentative date is between May 8th and 19th, not an
exact time frame yet, but I'll let you know.

Steve is coming up from Thunder Bay, Leon is from North Virginia.

Hey ZZR_Ron...I have a some questions about your KLR...
What wind screen is that and how well does it work? Does it reduce the buffeting at hwy speeds?

What front fender are you running?

    Thanks much!

Kritter, most of the info is here:

    http://klr650.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=143&highlight=

I havent really tried the windshield out enough to give you good info.

It's the old one off my FJ1100, it just happened to fit with a few mods, but I'll let you know next week, when I get out for an extended ride with it.

The front fender is WAY better, less wind effect, and it actually keeps mud and water off me!

If you have any other questions please PM me...

I was just bugging ya - althought I'd love to join for all but that last 11 clicks. Baby due end of april/May...so there's no chance in Hades I'd be "allowed" to go. I'll keep an eye out for a ride report though.

I think I would be more concerned with the snow than the black flies.

Do you have the actual coordinates for the Castle?
.. actually, I think I see them on the bottom of your screen shot of the topo map, if that is referring to the castle that is..

    N49 10.676 W91 54.845 should put you within 250 meters or so.

This is one ride where I'm not sure if we can actually make it there,
but we are sure gonna try. If we get to some point where it stops us, we may try again from a different direction.

EDIT: I can guarantee that there has never been a picture of a bike taken in front of the castle!!

Not yet. I picked too early a date, and the swamp is just plain unpassable.

We're going to try again in August...

We did have ten great days of riding though, there were a bunch of other destinations we had planned as well, that did work out.

I'll post a ride report when we make it in.

Hey, aren't you coming up this way??

The weather was too cold for me. That and I'm helping startup a brand new GM plant in Lansing. So we a little busy at work...I don't think they can let me go for more than a day. It should be better (work load) in about 3-4 weeks. I hope to be up that way around that time.
