Admiring the DR650 thread, KLR stories and other perpetual good reads I propose a Quota thread for the eight of us that have them. I realize it'll probably die a early death amongst the din of V-Strom blather (four legs good, two legs bad!!) but here goes.

Let's hear it for an oddball bike from an oddball bike company :clap

I bought mine last summer on impulse and the more I ride it the more I like it, a big comfy couch of a bike that has some issues but has big rewards as well.

Guzzi and tall riders? I regret not buying one in 2000. If only the dealer had a red one and would move a little on the price. But for the same price I got a blue BMW.

My Quota is in the process of getting some much needed attention and some worthwhile upgrades.

First on the list was a metal oil temperature sensor holder. This replaces a plastic holder and theoretically holds heat better therefore leaning the mixture as the motor thinks it's running warmer. As an added touch I filled the air gap between the sensor tip and holder with anti-seize and smeared black RTV around the "fins" of the metal holder to further insulate it.

Link to Guzzitech.com where it's explained much better.

Next was the cannisterectomy, I pulled out yards (meters??) of tubing and enjoyed every minute of it.

There's more on the list but I gotta get to baseball practice.

I really don't like the windscreen, looking for a stocker to see how that works.

Repacked steering head bearings (those Eyetalians are skimpy with the grease).

Changed the fork oil to SAE10.

    I thought this looked cool:

Do I toss on my spare 7/33 gearset now or put a few miles on it as it is before I change (like it's a difficult swap....:D )

In a lot of ways the Quota is easier to work on than my T-3, if that's possible.
