In an attempt to escape Wisconsin winter, my boyfriend and I loaded the dirt bikes up in our van and headed to West Virginia for the weekend. The Hatfield and Mccoy trail system runs several hundred miles through the mountains of WV and is extremely well mapped and marked. We blasted out 160 miles of dirt and rock trails on Friday and Saturday enjoying the 70-degree weather while folks at home were getting covered in snow. We met a real-life Hatfield who married a Mccoy and now runs the Wingos BBQ joint and Inn in Matewan. We also ventured into Gilbert and up a mountain to the Trail 12 BBQ (the best in West Virginia) which is family owned and operated in the center of a huge campground. There are cabins and lodging along the trails in every town, we stayed at the Browning Fork cabins outside of Gilbert along the Rock House Trails and rode to Man then highwayed our way over to Matewan and hopped on the Devils Anse trails. Couldn't have asked for better weather, food, or people for the weekend and the trails did not disappoint!
