It looks like it has recently changed hands.

This has been one of the places I would drive hundreds of miles out of my way for the steak and eggs breakfast.
I'll miss the old man and his son.

That said I'll still stop by to give it a try.
As much as I like the area I may be inclined to put together a gathering of like minded folks to take in the area.
Any excuse for a steak and eggs run... amiright @peterman ?!

Hope the new owners do as well as the previous.

Uhh, was it closed for fuel?,, I haven't been there this year,,or last year.

    ,,I mean because,

,that place was ALWAYS a "must stop" for fuel in that region. "Never Pass Gas!",,,dirty roads all around,,hundreds of miles of exploring, you'd better stop for fuel at every opportunity. This is one we ALWAYS counted on.
Disclaimer: (I have only been to Idaho on a motosickle, and have therefore always had limited range.)
There are places you just DO NOT go by without stopping for fuel. (or tradition)
and a steak and aigs breakfast in the middle of the afternoon, especially if the Dad is cooking!
    Claytons,,Dad and son,,AWESOME PEOPLE!
( sometimes my age, and my memories, and nostalgia take over my typing)
you hadda been there, bro,,no shit!

Yes, the Sawmill Station has tent camping.

Snow is melting fast. Around 7,000' on the north facing slopes. Much higher on southern facing slopes. Some trails are under a seasonal closure now. They open July 1. Open Trails are up and back today (snow) or impassable creeks.

^^^ Stands to reason no intel on the current situation at Sawmill, as they are still in winter closure mode. I hope an ADVer goes there and reports on the place/ trails sooner than later. It might be a plan "B" for our ID trip.

    Ģreat destination for
What Intel are you looking for?

The Sawmill Station opened on May 1.

New owner's. Ross is a former AMA pro mx rider. And MRAN desert racer.

Polaris Adventure starts at the Sawmill Station. 10 Polaris 900 RZRs side by side's and 4 Polaris 1000 RZRs four seaters are available to rent.

The Tour of Idaho passes through. Gas stop, food, overnight lodging, showers for tent campers.

Many great loops for Adventure bike's originate from the Sawmill Station. Or large dual sport bike's.

    And day's of single track.

I have been trail riding, the past three weekends, with former AMA 500 National MX Champion Chuck Sun.

Much to see in this area.

Anybody have a source for some good GPS tracks for dual sport and/or easy single track in the area? Shooting for a trip there in late June or early August...

I find Avenza ripe for improvement. But I still give it a shot.

For finding maps; what's your best practice? I've found trying to find maps within Avenza an exercise in patience, and I work in software and technology. I've had success importing maps found on websites outside of the app. Can you share how you find various maps for the areas you ride?

That's a start, thank you. And yes, your summation about the search engine is putting it kindly. :D

If someone is visiting an area or doesn't know the name of the area they are in or the proper name, is there a best practice on how to find those maps?
