1. Hey everyone, We’re going to start a weekly email to surface interesting threads in the forums. No worries, you can easily unsubscribe if you don’t find it interesting. If you’re like me, it’s nice to have someone willing to poke around a big community like ours and find the most interesting stuff. Saves time and I hate missing something great. It worked really well when we had someone discovering the best photos for the home page rotation back in the day. And if you have something fascinating to post, maybe this email does everyone some good by getting it noticed. Let us know what you think when you get it. Your feedback will make it better as we go (thread). Thanks! Baldy & rudy1220

Everyone hates sidecars until you turn up with all the gear to fix flats and cold beer
Caught the sidecar Bug when I had a few rides on a 650 BSA / Dusting about 1978
First sidecar I built was on my trusty old TS185 which was great for going to work in the vineyards
I Built bike in pic in 1981 TS400 worked over a bit by my mate "Port Job"
Lost in 2005 bushfire Finished 3 x 24hr road trials many club outings rode it to work for yrs , version (1) in avatar .
Photo taken day after 1984 24hr Trial

    Ts 400 sidecar 1984 Trial.jpg

Outfit I ride now is a GR650 Suzuki / DJP really good for sneaking around quietly lots of great dirt roads around here and quiet twisty black top , old girls getting a bit slow on the highways .

I was always curious about sidecars, but considered them to be a bit of a novelty. Then I built this for the 2015 Scrapheap Adventure Ride.

    IMG_0090.JPG

It was so much fun, I loved riding it. Sadly the rear wheel spat most of the spokes out and I had to leave the box in Wagga and ride back home solo.
This years Scrapper may well be the next candidate for a third wheel. Not sure yet IMG_0236.JPG

On my second one now, both Phyllis creations. Great fun and make camping trips a lot easier. My wife prefers the sidecar, a bit warmer and easier seating position. All good.

Sounds like a great idea, Doonie - except the buy and sell part.

We have a Flea Market for that. :-)

    My two...........

My Ural, that I owned when I lived in Vietnam and worked as a tour guide in Phong Nha in 2014

    UralTour21of37_zpsd897d1b1.jpg

And having loved that outfit with an unnatural passion, the outfit I bought shortly after returning to Australia

    BMWR755sidecar_zps3xjqzw37.jpg

Still love my solos, but the sidecar just adds another dimension (not to mention wheel) to riding adventures.

Here is "The Beast" when it was clean and shiny and hadn't done thirty thousand hard k's. The thing is amazing because although it is low to the ground it is a real go anywhere machine.

my first one when I picked it up

this horrible man lusted after it ( stinking K riders)

next stage of the transformation was a new multi purpose boat

unfortunately the motor didn't like my style of riding , or maybe it was Figgrick revving it to 12,000 rpm

    sooooo this happened

and the "Bastard" was born, it has undergone a few developments along the way, as all sidecars do. New chassis, custom rear wheel and a host of other bits and bobs, but it is now a reliable long haul adventure rig.
