    Hello all!

Just looking to see if anyone is coming from ottawa-montreal-kingston area to the Paris>Dacre ride and have room for two bikes and two guys?

Willing to pay for costs associated with getting our bikes and us there. Two smaller bikes a xr650 and dr400.

Dont really want to ride down but we will if we have to!

let me know please if you have any options for us to consider.

    Thanks

Think of the ride there as a long liaison section before the special stage.
Just like the real Dakar! :D

I could if it wasnt a 4 lane hwy threw one of the crappiest traffic citys in Canada. I think the ride there is probably more dangerous for me than the 800km to dacre! hahha

I am not scared of climbing a mountain on my XR but put me in 4 lanes of traffic and going threw toronto and i get twitchy!

We will see what happens by then if i have to i will but 7hours of pavement on a 400 series hwy is not what my dirt bike converted to street legal steed is best at.

I think if this event is supposed to approximate a day at the Dakar, there shouldn't be any teams.
    Single riders, toughing it out.
Sure I can use some help by the tenth time I have to pick up my 500lb dirt bike, but it;s a good way to seperate the men from the boys....:gerg

Not very many people trying to get into my KLR team. It looks like we may have a total of 2. You are more than welcome to join with us if you can't find another team.

I would be happy with that set up as well. Maybe a team and a solo division? Just a thought.

The original 2005 Paris to Dacre had the team concept due to no sweep riders and little support on the route so if anyone was in serious trouble, they were covered until rescue could be arranged at road crossings.

There are some sections where you are a long way from any one and safety was the main concern. Anyone way out there by themselves is not very wise and I rode most of the 2005 solo, twit! In 2006 I was always with Fast Eddie!

Now that the ride has grown and RC have a full crew mmmmmmm.........

No matter what, it's still a big effort in one day with a team or not.

If you leave the route due to a navigation mistake and a rider gets into big trouble, even with a crew of sweep riders you will most likely not be found as you are "off route" and no one would know where the heck you were, maybe for days!!! The worry of leaving a rider out by himself in the dark in the middle of nowhere, maybe with a life threatening injury is more than I could stand. GPS locators like in the real Dakar take a fair bit of the worry away. The helicopters sure help!

Would I like to do the P2D solo, you bet! Would I think it was a bit silly, yep, definately! It is NOT a race but it's great to get into Dacre with your buddies an hour before everyone else!

Hopefully the 2010 running will be as good as 2008. What a great ride.

I think so! We can field a team of 4 if you want.

We have you (grovesd - KLR)
    me (Mr. C - KLR)
Juames - KLR (if he wants to join us)
and Scholz - KTM 690 (if he wants to slum with us!!!).

Let me know if you boys want to form an official team or not. We then come up with a team name and try to get ourselves a spot in the event! :freaky
