wow.. great adventure!
thanks for sharing.
One word: Respect.
This picture is beautiful on so many levels.
I just wanted to add my comments after reading this wonderful RR
MJ, I really admire you for bringing your family on a trip like this. I really hope I can do something similar one day. The life lessons your daughter is gaining from you will provide her with an education richer than what most urban kids will ever get.
I can't help but think that if all kids could receive experiences like this as part of their education, may be, just maybe, the world might be a better place to live.
Thank you so much for selflessly sharing this with us. Now I need to explain to my boss why i have not done any work for the last 2 days.
This is an amazing RR,
I envy you,
You have a great brave hearts and good thinks family.I wish you happines and long lifes.
My boy and I have been riding/camping on a F650GS for the last 5 years. The bike sure gets cramped with camping gear and I've resorted to towing my bike and his(XR70 & XR80) to our base camp. He'll ride his own bike, one day and then 2-up with me, the next. It works out great but it doesn't lend itself to stories like yours. Thanks for sharing your reports. Good stuff for sure...
Okay, I know this is an old thread, but every couple of years I somehow stumble into it and I am enthralled again. I just read it once more and I am as amazed by the poetry of the language as I am by the beautiful photography. It brings tears to my eyes. Absolutely wonderful.
Thank you, again metaljockey, Tharina and Peanut.
Ps. You can't have too many photographs, sunset or otherwise!
wow .. what a nice RR .. the only one on Adv that I've seen so far with a complete family along.
Love this ride report - fantastic writing and riding. Great job taking your family through the bush. That takes a lot of balls on both you and your wife's part
a lot of trust and solidarity there. Congratulations.
Fantastic ride report and what a fabulous bunch of photos. I have two grown girls and we did a lot of exploring around the Southwestern United States.
I never thought what we did as a family was tame until I read about your travels.
Great report!! . Wife will like this one!
What can I say wasn't said before? Thank you for sharing this superb journey.
thank you for share..
...made my day! Thank you!
I just finished reading this RR. The memories your little girl will have are epic! If you don't have one of those corny dad of the year shirts, you should! Pictures were just awesome. Thanks
That has to be one of the best family vacations stories ever told! Thank you sir!
I've never really been on this forum before, but someone from Reddit linked to this thread after a question about riding with kids on the back..
Little did I know I was going to read one of the most inspiring stories ever!! Seriously, you will probably never realize how much you affect and inspire my life after reading this epic tale. You are pioneering for us a little less adventurous who would love to do such a thing but are unsure if it's possible. You paved the road for us: it absolutely is possible! And what an adventure it will be..
Thanks again, for showing us what we can get out of our lives.
I thought Angola and Goat Meat were good. This surpasses all possible expectations. I laughed, smiled, gasped and shed a tear.
Bloody hell, I want to visit the continent!
Just discovered this and very much enjoyed reading this report, with its slightly different slant of the family being the trip.
As has been already said a few times what a great life experience for you all.
Beautiful. Thank you.
