Hello! Tom the American here. She's serious, I'm nervous. Is there a lot of trail riding over there and are there a lot of people/orginazations trying to eliminate motorcycles from these trails? Is there an area thats Moto friendlier than others? From what we've seen and heard it seems like a fantastic country but Moto opportunity is pretty damn high on the list of my needs. any info much appreciated!!

    Hi ya Tom

Live in the South Island and ya'll remain as sane as bro.

Check out the NZ pics thread if ya haven't already. Having lulled you into that....we're hardly Colorado size wise but the scenery is as good.
This site has some cool riding spots already sorted for ya REMOTEMOTO

Seems like New Zealand made the news recently for some seriously unfortunate activity (understated). It wouldn't be high on my list of places to move to, just me.

i don't believe you can just move there, there not dumb like the US. I Have a friend who moved there twenty years ago first he needed to show he had an estate large enough to take care of himself. because your not going to take a natives job. They do take people who have skills they need, in his case his wife is a highly sought after Designer/Programmer genius in the GPS field. He's outside of Christchurch and has a amazing estate. I need to get down there!!!

Option 2 could be work in lower NI (ie govt based) and you're only a ferry ride from the South. Most of us look at the South Island as being the best riding but in fact the North does offer a lot as well.

Have actually heard a rumour that entry requirements will be changed. Applicants will asked to explain the Rugby Football offside rule under all potential circumstances.

That way we should eventually have at least one person in the country that can do it.

don't hold ya breath .... the offside rule was cleverly designed to never apply to the same circumstances more than once. Fans don't understand that it's actually working perfectly

That makes sense. Now I understand that my search for understanding is fruitless and unnecessary. As long as the ABs win of course.

And to get back on track its worth noting that we do in fact have vast areas well suited to the OPs moto needs in the West Island.

    It's just too hot.

And everything is trying to kill ya.
    Especially the women!

And worst of all it's full of Ozzies.

    Other than that, it's mint.

But thats the point. I know nothing of women that makes much sense but...

Colorado gets hot...some of it caught fire this year (another similarity). So does the West Island.

    Rattlesnakes....Taipans, Browns etc.
    Alligators.....crocs....(some geographic licence applied here)

See what im saying? Its actually just like Colorado (minus anything over about 100m above sea level of course)

As for Ozzies theyre all very nice and friendly once you get to know them. Lovely people.

Seems the perfect solution to me.

So what you're saying is, he could move from where he is now to the land of Oz, and it wouldn't make a difference.

    Why move at all then?

Well because according to the interweb the WI is 28.5 times the size of Colorado. The .5 is the bit around the fringe is where all the peeples is and the 28 is a humungous motocross track/desert with the odd rock here and there for navigational purposes.

That should meet his moto needs wouldn't you say???

Just pointing out options is all. And poking the borax a bit at our cuzzies across the ditch too of course. For the record I'm an immigrant too.

But seriously if you were used to wide open spaces of Colorado where you can ride more or less wherever you like (have seen pics, never been there) then you might well feel a bit claustrophobic in NZ. Unless you have a mate with a farm you can ride on the roads and thats it. The mainland is better (seen pics, havent been there enough) but its not the same is it?

Whereas the middle of Oz is huge. Like fly over it for hours in a jet huge. Admittedly a lot of that is farmed private land but theres the many desert type routes we see RRs about. Simpson, CSR etc. (have seen pics never want to go there)

    Just trying to help.
