Awesome. Never seen an XR4 with a Red frame. Once I "Frame" mine I'm going with that color powder coat.

Glad you like it - yes, I was going for the older XR [600] vibe with that...

photo. back from the Baja Rally in 2016, with red side panels too.

It's a 2003 model, so originally had a silver frame - but during a previous refresh around 2007 it was also black with a black frame for a while:

Red is definitely the way to go though!

Did you paint any of the plastics? If "yes" how is it holding up & what did you use?

Hi Bork, no - those are all self-coloured plastics - OEM rear fender, 650R front fender and mask, IMS tank, and Polisport side panels... they all match pretty well, although the IMS and Polisport parts are not quite the same shade as the genuine Honda panels.

Anyone have an ideal where I could get a air box intake connector? Goes from airbox to the carb, mine is cracked and starting to get holes in it.

So I slapped a nice shiny red acerbis 22l tank on the XR a week or so back.

Just ran it down to reserve yesterday -- but didn't get a chance to drain that off and measure before I had to top up. I put a known quantity in, so I now have a mark at reserve + 15l.

Anyone know what the reserve capacity is? googling doesn't give me much

I frankensteined one together sleeving a car radiator hose onto the original item with black RTV silicone. It ain't pretty, but it's hidden. Measure carefully, then go hose shopping.

When I found how difficult the XR4 old parts are to find, I did manage to pick up a spare carb-to-head intake boot. My original is still in good shape, but I would hate for my perfectly good bike to become unusable because of an unobtainable rubber intake boot. The new one is safely squirreled away in the garage, sealed up in several layers of plastic bags.

I have an '87 Honda XL250R that I bought new. By the early 2000s, the dual-carb intake boot had cracked, making the bike virtually impossible to start. With the supply of replacement '85-'87 dual-carb intake boots having dried up years earlier, I ended up having to fabricate a single-carb intake from aluminum and install an aftermarket Mikuni carb.

Grab those old Honda parts while you can.

I figured it would be a hard part to find. What do you guy's think about running a small pvc pipe from the carb into the box with a uni pod filter on the other end inside the box?

If the connection part is still good and will seal reliably to the carb throat, you might consider just sealing it. Mine was cracked up in certain places on my '81 XL500. Sealed it back up with epoxy rated for plastic/ flexibility. I don't remember the exact product I used, but it's still holding well a couple years later.

the xr400 supermoto air intake is still available: 17253-MT3-000

Slightly different to accommodate a resonator and some hose connections.. but looks very similar. (item #20) Anyone know if the carb intake diameter and location is the same?
