We'll let it slide this time.

Doug, many would agree that your stuff is epic. You ever think about putting everything together in a book?

Know the name of this river? Looks like a good kayaking trip.

That's seems reasonable. You might laugh. I even brought it up on Google Maps, but they didn't have a name on the river... My middle east geography is pretty weak.

It's the Akhurian River (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akhurian_River). It constitutes the border between Turkey (left) and Armenia (right) and their relations are, shall we say, not the best. There are actually guard towers just outside the frame. There is also a dam up river. So, as tempting as it looks, probably a no go for kayaking :-(

I've found that 100 bucks a day will let you travel comfortably in the states. If you stay at cheap campgrounds when nice and cheap hotels when raining. Eat sensibly. Drink at the campground and hotel and not at the bar. 100 bucks a day is a good average. 100 bucks allows for tires and maintenance but not major break downs. Years ago there was a thread on here called "The USA on 10 dollars a day" and that dude was begging and miserable sleeping on sidewalks and shit like that.

    Hi Jamie !

Here's the Webside of the turkish Canoe Federation. I didn't look into it, as I'm quite water-shy, but there is definitely some good kayaking here in Turkey.
