Did you lay chook mesh on the ground to some distance outward and clip it to vertical wire? Slows/stops fox digging their way in. During winter/cold we put a pot of wheat in water on the home wood fire to soften it, then feed chooks a scoop or so each day. Helps them with protein to produce eggs during the cold months. Looks nice and cosy. Regards

    morning after

wife chased foxy out of hen house
Dogs chased fox out of pen and over fence
Then around the yard and bale it up in the corner
Id finally wiped sleep from my eyes and found a shovel
Young pup had a good scrap with foxy and repeatedly stopped it from jumping over the colorbond
Eventually they separated by 6 inches for a second or that was enougg to deploy the shovel over pups head and onto foxy’s

Suburban fox was a mum and killed three chooks by the time the missus got to him

very satisfying to catch a thief and murderer

    Excellent!

Foxes often have diseases like mange so keep a close eye on your dogs for signs of it for a while.

And I hope they got some treats for a job well done.
