Followup question if we may; "How much weight are you 'uns carrying?" Without prying, the number pretty much must include body weight, though PJM, his own self, doesn't look like Dunkin Donuts is a threat vector.

I'd say 150 pounds in gear and I'm about 150.

Thanks, I'm at my family's home now. Unfortunately my dad passed so it's pretty important that I'm here to support my mom and brother. I'll make the decision this week whether I go back or not. Trying to convince my mom to join but she's not one to camp or stay in even remotely crappy places.

Wish the trip wasn't ending like this but it was an amazing ride that I feel very fortunate to have taken. There will be more.

At this moment I'd say the trip is over. That could change. Just hard to start back up now that I'm home.

Thanks for all the kind words. It's been a very surreal weekend. At times this process can feel so mechanical and lifeless. The act of picking a casket, making decisions based on what you think someone would want that's gone. It's very strange. At any rate I stopped crying before getting off the plane and have been solid since as if my brain knows that's what my mom needs. Just trying to alleviate as much burden as I can for her.

I may write about this whole experience at some point. New post will be out tomorrow.

Thanks David. Rough time for my family for sure. It was awesome meeting you, wish we could have done some riding.

On a separate note, I'm likely not going back down. My bike is in Santiago. It's important to me to get it back. Gotta hit 100k on it. Anyone have any good shipping contacts there? I know I was talking to a Martina in Valparaiso. Thanks
