Too difficult for me to laud the effort properly, so I'll just take the massively understated route and say, "Nice" :thumbup

I enjoyed every post! Very helpful to us as my wife and I plan to ride in Alaska/Yukon mid June to mid July this Season. PM me if you come to Newfoundland and we'll see how we can return the favour. Also Ridetherock.com is a local DS forum and there are there are Newfie Inmates here on ADV. Cheers. Bob

    Thanks
That is funny because I have been trying to talk my wife into a Newfoundland trip. She lived there when she was young.
I keep an eye on that Ridetherock once and a while.

eemsreno;..Steve; loved your trip report about riding the big dirt bikes for their intended purpose. I would like one of your DVD's but can't seem to find how to send a PM on this forum. Please contact me with a PM of your email so I can send you a mailing address. Thanks...Dave

Don't give up. My wife and I did a Newfoundland trip and it was an epic journey. Keep working on her. She won't regret it.

Have to ask what the backup plan was if you were forced to turn around past the avalanche area.

That would be the all time good question.
No back up plan and no way to go back.
We laughed about that at the time, I said what if there is a river up ahead that we can't cross.
We sure had a good time with no care in the world.

Thanks everyone for the nice responses.

Steve, you certainly personify the spirit of adventure. Not only that, but you have a gift for writing and inspiring others. I'm sure I'm not alone in anticipation of your next report. What's in planning for this year? Can't wait!

I sure don't know about a gift for writing. I try to keep it to a minimum.
No big trips planned, Romney, W.V. rally
I'm going to Moab with trail bikes with my boy and other friends in a couple months. Fun!
Super Tenere rally in Utah in Sept.
I vote someone puts together a trip to Alaska for big ADV bikes with all the off road going we can find, camping in the wild and everyone is self sufficient , have your bear spray, anyone can bail any time. No complaining , no hard feelings , All fun!

With the fuel prices this low and camping in the wild not eating fancy a trip can be well under 2 grand.

For all of you getting a DVD in the mail, one guy has told me the post delivery guy said they needed $1.50 more postage.
I'll go to the post office and try getting to the bottom of their rip off.
    Sorry for any postage due.

I'd give'm $5 if they asked. I'm sure the DVD will be worth that and more. Thanks Steve.
I continue to live the life of adventure through the eyes and RR's of you "whipper snappers", lol. No, I'm not THAT old, 69 coming up in March, but this crippled up older fat guy can hardly get up off the ground anymore, so camping is out. Just thrilled that I can still throw a leg over the S10 and ride. Y'all keep up the good work.

Truly awesome trip report. Beautiful pictures. Thanks.

But where the hell do you get maps detailed enough to give you confidence you can get to where you're going? That detour off the Dempster to ride the old BC Rail grade, in particular. And it sounded like there was at least one place where you practically had to carry the bikes down and had no hope of reversing course. One needs a bit of confidence that the route ahead is passable to do something like that. I finally tracked down some topo maps I can load into my Navigator V that show the Esker Road and Orma Lake Road in Labrador for a trip coming up in 14 weeks. But those roads are going to be a cake walk compared to some of the stuff you were on. What is your source for maps?

    Thanks.

Hi Steve, I have enjoyed your last DVD a few times now. I keep it in our camper and on a rainy nite it is nice way to pass some time. If ya got one of your last trip left put my name on it. I will get it from you out in Utah.

Are you thinking of passing thru Moab on the way out or way back this fall?
