    Three Weeks.
Lots of pictures of the WR.
Group of riders for the first few days.
Pre running much of the Baja 1000 course.
Roads that I ridden in 2013 looked much different this time.
Nine days relaxing in Los Barriles.
    Let's get going.

I had already been on the road for awhile visiting my sister in Chino Valley, AZ. I had done some riding around Prescott, Chino Valley, and Sedona area.

I then drove to Escondido and parked my truck at a house for safe keeping.

I then rode down to San Diego to meet up with a friend and some guys that he was guiding for their first trip to Baja. I had never met them until now. They were all from my neck of the woods, Southwest Washington.

    Meet up.

Since we had the truck, I was able to take all my gear off the bike. Front tire changed out to a slightly used D606. No fancy suspension for me, although after this 2nd trip to Baja I'm ready for some good suspension now.

The bikes. We had one guy get up early, fire his bike up and do a wheely down the parking lot in shorts with no gear. He forgot that he had left the choke on. Half way through the wheely the bike cuts out and he goes down. He hurt his knee real bad. Not a great way to start out day one.

Starteded to get a light steady rain after Coyote Cals. Good for keeping the dust down.

Looking forward to following along, love Baja :-) :-). That's one heck of a pop-up camper setup, can't believe how many bikes are loaded on the front and back of it :eekers :lol3

This was from November 2017? Just checking as we were down there in November 2018 for 3+ weeks, be funny if you were there at the same time.

You mentioned suspension, I had Daryl from Suspension By Design (local guy in Newberg) do the shock on my WR - night and day compared to stock (left the forks alone as I felt they're good).

After lunch, we headed south on 1, the took a left after the bridge. We rode through the farm land then it got real sandy. It was quite a workout for that little 250.
Then everyone disappeared and so did the road. I was a little pissed at this point not knowing where to go. It all worked out though and I found them taking a break.
    IMG_1402.JPG

That was some deep shit right there.

We got out of the sand then climbed the steep rocky road up to the top.

The first flat of the trip. The young guys like to ride fast and there were a lot of small rocks to dodge on this road. There would be many more flats later.

Everything out here is pretty much designed to hurt you.
    IMG_1414.jpg

We made it to Catavina after dark. Our leader told us it was about 10 miles to Catavina after we hit pavement. That 10 miles turned out to be over 50.
    IMG_1419.jpg

We got some food and beer at a little spot across from the main hotel.
We were supposed to meet the truck here. No truck.
Someone told us they seen a truck like ours broke down far from here.
    Ok, so now what?
We decided to stay at the pink motel.
As we pulled in there, a car come pulling up with our buddy who was driving the truck.
He said they were parked behind the big hotel and all set up for camping.
Well, that worked out alright in the end.

Barrel fuel in Catavina, then pavement down to Coco's Corner cut-off.
Time was restricted on this trip for everyone except me.
The guys wanted to do a quick trip to see Coco.

We stopped to drop off the truck, and pull a bike off the trailer so everyone could ride out there.

The road, Hwy 5, still has a lot of construction going on and soon it will all be paved.

I was here in 2013 with another group of guys. The building there was open air then.
We also rode the Calamajue Wash back then. There wouldn't be time on this trip.

Our leader was going to take the guys on the Window Rock trail. I had another plan in mind.
Before the trail we stopped to work on a bike, and the guys fueled up.
    IMG_1457.JPG

There was alot of pre-running for the Baja 1000 in a few days. I heard a big engine out there in the desert and told my buddy that it sounds like BJ Baldwin. I was just joking around of course. I didn't have any idea who it was.
Sure enough it was BJ. He come pulling up to wait for his chase truck.
