We will trailer from Pittsburgh to Denver and then on July 26th we plan on heading out from Denver southwest to Salida to hook up with the TAT. From there we will follow it out to the Pacific and then turn back north east up thru Bend, Or along some of the OBCR over to Boise, Id and along some of the IBCR. Then it all depends on time, either up to Yellowstone and back down to Denver, or just follow the IBCR down to Utah and then across northern CO back to Denver. We plan on spending three weeks riding. Bikes are XR650L (rastawheel), DR650 (trailerrails), KTM 950 (kgm423). We have an inmate from CA meeting us in Denver, he will be riding a WR250R (teamjunk).

Below is our planned route. Blue is our route to the coast and red is our planned route back to Denver, which I am sure will change. I keep looking at it and changing it almost everyday. My last version takes us south along the IBCR towards Salt Lake City and then east across northern CO.

No kids, cheap house, crappy cars, cheap motorcycles, work for myself.

Coming off 2 months of not working because of injury. It is not the smartest finical decision for me but I am gonna make it happen.

If I took all of my vacation at once, I'd never want to go back.

As BMW318Tech says "motorcycles are a lifestyle choice". I bought my house based on motorcycles. I buy my 4 wheeled vehicles based on motorcycle hauling. I work how I work because I want a flexible schedule. My life would be totally different if it were not for the damn things. I would not change a thing.

Six days and counting........ I am getting impatient. Switch out wheels to my knobs and do an oil change, pack some clothes and ride, ride, ride!

Is the meeting over here tomorrow? We can evaluate the trailer. Eric thinks that the trailer is going to be the biggest adventure of the whole trip. The wheel issues are "interesting". I am going to hit some junk yards tomorrow.

Here is the trailer in question. I welded up a tailgate for it. The issue I am running into is the hubs are 4x100 and I ordered 4x4 wheels for it. Two of the old wheels have rust issues that make them questionable. The third had the hub center cut out with a torch so it would fit over the hub. I pressed new bearings and races in the hubs, they should be good to go. I would change the whole axle out to a more common bolt pattern, but it would be about half the cost of a new trailer.

I just got back from a 4617mi trip to Newfoundland and back, now I have 5 days to convert the 950 to a more dirt worthy machine & do the opposite coast. Thats my trailer, never should have offered it for use...found out its a POS :)

It is the best option we have, it is going to be a nice trailer after we get all this sorted out.

Ah, trailer looks good, just needs a little air and maybe luck! :-)
It looks like you did good route planning; I assume research on details as well. "It will be hot." I see from http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/trans-am-500-the-seven-year-itch.1061450/page-21#post-27198665 that the TAT is a different animal, much tamer. Will your TAT part be the old or new routing?
If your trailer route takes across IL on 74, I can offer bunking and tools etc. near Peoria. Or, if you have problems on 80 (1 h'r north of me); I can help.

Thanks for the offer, but we will be driving straight thru. Three drivers and a bed in the back. So one guy can sleep, one can drive and one can co-pilot.

We are combining Sams route and gps kevins. I am not totally committed to either. Just flying by the seat of my riding pants! That's what makes it an adventure.
