I would have thought that too. I guess they are a lot better engineered than we thought. Wish I could have heard the engine run one last time, but it wouldn't start. Probably more damaged than it appeared.

260 feet; you must have been traveling at a fast pace?
Was it not rideable after the accident?

Agree. My right knee hits the bolt that sticks out the right side of the bike.

There is a U shaped bracket that goes around the headlight support and joins the two sides. It's a bit clumsy, but it works well.

My main concern from looking at all of these images is that so many of them seem to mount to the lower part of the engine on both sides, and not parts of the existing frame tubing... I'm concerned that if I go down on something hard like rock or pavement, that this will put stress on that area and cause damage to thee engine. I'm having a hard time finding something that doesn't mount in that way.

Can any of you that have the ones that mount that way let me know how they've performed when you lay the bike down on harder surfaces? Have any of you had issues with engine damage? Or am I just an idiot who's worried too much about my baby?

If you have had issues, have any of you found bars that mount without touching the engine?

I have Happy trail engine guards and I have been down a lot, because I'm almost 70 and not as quick as I used to be LOL. They protect my bike very well and have not replaced any body parts. Their made about 5 blocks from my house here in Boise Idaho. I think they offer better protection than any bar's out their.

I had Heed crash bars on my 2012 tiger when I got hit this spring. They served their purpose well. I have been struggling with what to use on my replacement bike (2015 XCx). Due to the pandemic as some will know Heed has not been able to ship to the US. I was just about to pull the trigger on H&B Uppers. I got an email from Heed this morning that they are once again shipping to the US. Just sayin.
