Thank you Dave
I had seen some pictures by fellow local motorcyclists of sunrises....
I was inspired!
But...I also love my warm bed too much...
Sunday just gone here was a scorcher for late spring (33c/91f) and Monday was also forecast to be a good ‘un so I set my alarm for 0445 (sunrise was 0604 but my desired location for taking the pics was a bit of a ride on extremely tight and twisty road).
Pushed the bike in the dark down our long drive and then along the street....it’s not exactly stealthy
As expected the road was ‘interesting’ in the dark
Enough chatter, here’s some pictures:
It was now after 0700 and my local Lyttelton java provider was luring me with the siren call of a lattè and a warm raspberry muffin.....
(Preferential Parking of course)
Busy day in port
All in all a very successful excursion
Shane, I think you've captured the essence of sunrise motorcycling with those winner pics. Well done, sir, and thanks for posting this.
What John said! Beautiful shots
Now that was worth getting up early for. Well done Shane.
@popscycle @B10Dave @The Opa
Thank you for your kind words
Wow. Awesome pictures. thanks
is that cafe up top open yet ? i forget the name of it
Sign of the Kiwi - yup been open a couple of years now
I was thinking of Hilltop Tavern. It was closed when i was there in July
That’s a different road over the hill from this harbour on the way to Akaroa.
Open I think, very rarely call in, has always been a disappointing waste of one of the best locations around in my opinion.
Couple of weeks ago when we rode to over for lunch (ShaggieWife and I), there were quite a few vehicles in the car park (unsuspecting tourists who don’t know better...) suggesting it was open.
Views are epic from there
Just found this! Cool stuff Shane! Pix are great.
Fantastic to have you along!
And very chuffed you like the pix
