What's with the Budweiser sticker on the Z. You don't drink that watery crap in the southern hemisphere do you?

A good friend of mine is early in her road riding career....

we went to Akaroa yesterday early to avoid the heat and traffic...

her first time going there, its epically twisty and hilly so she was a little nervous but she absolutely nailed it! :clap

    Waiting patiently at 0700

The traffic on the way back definitely showed us we'd chosen right to go early!

Second trip to Akaroa in 4 days! Solo this time and meeting some Scottish friends who have just bought an RV for 6 months touring.....

Weather was decidedly average but managed to score this....

Over to Akaroa for a ride today.

New bunch of miscreants to ride with. Good blokes and a varied bunch of machines too.

Group pic of the bikes at The Hilltop for a coffee then Akaroa for a ginger beer.

And then a spirited scratch back with the VTR and Street Triple leading the way, wayyyyyyy out in front!:super:dllama:

    Gidday Jim

    Nice to hear from you.

Yes the autumn’s been nice so far, 29c today and still 23c at 0100hrs when I returned home from work. Lovely day but I much prefer colder at night .

Maybe another idea in the am....stay tuned.

    Best wishes

AS promised, another ride was had today with CaptPH today riding the mighty 750K2.

Time restraints again but Highway 75 towards Akaroa but left at the Gebbies Garden Cafe (closed today) and up over Gebbies Pass.

    Nice wee twists and turns

PH spotted a pretty unusual cloud pattern so we found a spot with no powerlines to spoil the view....

Then on to Godley Head and DarkStar....which was closed....:dirtdog

Opted for the nearby Preserved....the last time here, the java was not good but today it was great and along with a yummy double chocolate and mixed berry muffin:dukegirl, all was good with the world....

PH and I went for a quick coffee ride this am but the real reason for going was to celebrate the reopening of Evans Pass - closed since our earthquakes way back in '11.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/n...-villages-countdown-to-crucial-road-reopening

The road is in perfect condition on the Lyttelton side - like a racetrack :raabia but the Sumner side is still pretty lumpy and bumpy.

Just a couple of pics now:

Cracker of a late autumn day and @PeteH1 had to try and track a bloke down in Oxford for some C90 sidecovers....

it was a little nippy around the edges on the way out of town at 0900 ish... :vardy

It was toasty warm at The Fat Beagle tho! The sun was shining however which meant we had to sit outside, even if it meant PH had to shield his eyes...:lol3

[IMG]2 by Shane Doig, on Flickr

The 'bloke' proved elusive however :dirtdog, we rang 5 times, asked the cafe ladies, the local ex-cop, the local dirt bike shop AND at the Post Office and no one knew of him...frustrating! :nono - we had the road name but not the number...

Anyhoo, we decide to remedy the situation with another cuppa up the road and around the corner..

    Views were nice but....

Fresh snow overnight (yesterdays weather was awful!)

Cafe 51 is always a winner!

Not many corners today (and no sidecovers) but it was still a GOOD DAY!
