Installed mud flap on front fender for gravel roads. Not enough clearance to install the flaps inside the fenders. So I'll make do with them outside. Used large fender washers to spread the stress.

Installed Sylvania zevo 1157R led bulb in brake / tail light. Bought bulb at local auto parts store. Works like a champ. Just a tad brighter than oem incandescent.

    1.5w / 0.4w instead of 21w / 5w (watts) of power consumption. (Stop / tail light)

Bought a small bear vault. It fits with room to spare in my top case. If I keep all food, toothpaste and so on in it, then I can move it 75 paces from my tent at night. Backpackers use these things on the PCT and AT. I do not want to be eaten by a bear.

Never tried pledge but it makes sense. I use Plexus. You know a friend gave me a camelpak when I was bicycling a lot. Cannot remember where I put it. Solder and zip torch with wiring would prepare me for the worst for sure. Thanks for the sound advice.

lol...just think about the amount of shit you'll have to wade through if you hear that alarm going off to get out of your tent...!!!!! I can't swim through the amount I'd create ...lol
Not to mention I'd have cut the side out of my tent with large razor sharp hunting knife trying to get out fast!...lol

I was thinking along the same line. After being jarred out of sleep I would probably find a raccoon doing pull-ups on the trip wire. I have a funny story about camping in a tent and fighting a raccoon for my birthday cake.

I am excited to get them mounted. That means I'm getting close to departure. I've decided to replace the battery. The battery is over two years old. No time for a weak or dead main battery. I am also putting footman loops on top of my top case. So I can temporarily strap down a purchase from the store.

Triple J hotel. Sharing the room with John. Renting a cabin (shed) at Beez Kneez Hostel in Whitehorse on my way north. Camping three days before that. Heading down to a friend's place in Slana after D2D.

Called Seward Military Resort today to talk about a special they run for the military on glacier cruises.

If you qualify, you can get a 50 percent discount by making reservations during a couple of open windows in the spring.

While enquiring I found that Resort reservations are filling up. I got a reservation on the 9th but the 10th and 11th of July are already booked. She also suggested making ferry reservations.

So I have a $185 ticket for Rita and me on the 12th of July: Whittier to Valdez. Leaves at 1:30pm.

Wait a minute, that ferry also gets plugged solid too. Hmmmmm....we were possibly going to take the same one to cut down on retracing a long loop, but don't want to be nailed down to a specific day to travel as we may not be there etc on such a date...? This now has me concerned.

Put a Garmin Zumo 660 GPS mount in Rita today. I can switch the 660 between bikes. Been using the 660 on my Kawasaki Voyager. The Zumo is weather proof so I will not need a plastic bag on rainy days. Also put footman loops on my top box and mounted bottle carriers on my panniers. I think I am down to replacing the battery and mounting my Anakee 3s on the bike. I am getting new tires and the wheel bearings greased on the trailer. The end of my bike and trailer "to do" list is near.
