where no Tiger has gone before. I had my Tiger for 2.5 years and never really had the confidence to take it where I've been taking my new KTM 950. I know that there are some Tiger maniacs out there, and good for you guys. Man does that 950 rock!!! Here's today's ride shots!
Oh boy! I made it to the other side of "The Gorge"! Only 6 more miles of pole line back to the road and then 60 minutes to home.
That would be #7. My Tiger with the Tourances sucked ass in the loose stuff. I didn't expect the Scorpions to be great, and they weren't great, but I would have been doing a lot of picking my Tiger up off the ground down that trail.
Yeah Details - I used to live in Collegeville and mountain biked all over place up there - Forgot it is not spring back east just yet.
The first shots are from the Weiser State forest in Port Clinton, PA. I had taken my Tiger up the access road to the fire tower and wanted to compare the KTM vs the Tiger on that road. I had also demo'd a F650GSD up that road. The Tiger was scary, even with keeping the speeds down. The GSD was pretty awesome, but there was excessive shaking of the cockpit/gauges. The KTM was awesome, stable on the loose stuff, and the cockpit didn't feel like it was going to break off. That pole line I was on runs from St Clair to Tamaqua, PA. I jumped on around Brockton and off near New Philadelphia. When I had my dirt bike I did a lot of riding up there. Lots of tight single track, none of which was seen by the 950, yet. Most of the single track is very rocky, and I am concerned about denting up the, known to be soft, KTM rims. Also, I'm not too sure how the KTM will preform on tough, steep, grades. I think that I'll keep the KTM on the easier stuff and get another dirt bike for the enduro trails. So far, I'm really pleased with the KTM's on road/off road compromise of performance.
Thanks We did a ride up there this past November with dgrs2. He was a great tourguide and was very patient. Looking forward to riding up there this year. Novembers ride: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28598
Hey, I was there! I was on a loaner Triumph Sprint ST, wishing I was heading out with you guys. That was the day I decided on the KTM instead of the Sprint. While the Sprint was an absolutely great street bike, I really wanted to be out with you guys. Dirt is always way better! I'm sure we'll be riding together soon enough!
I was there too, I knew that pole line looked familiar. The bridge did also. I've ridden a bunch of single track up there also. Nick
