Our ISDE girls.
It would be an honour to push his wheelchair. It may not be to his level of talent but......
Toby for PM
I quite liked this new bloke, "Tobt".
No wonder we hadn't heard of him.
Yes, our girls are absolute legends. With zero recognition.
Sorry blokes, I only realised my mistake after I posted and didn't know how to fix it, thanks @lentil .
I'm still not sure on how I can edit the title, willing to be instructed if someone can tell me.
Edit, worked it out, thread tools.
Well the official Dakar site had him as Tony Price so...
He would most likely be the best known motorcycle rider in Australia at present, with Miller a fair way behind him. Always considered that he has had a huge amount of press and recognition for what he has achieved and done, and is worthy of it. As others have pointed out, consider the Oz girls ISDE teams achievements over the same amount of time.
So, is he known as GAM, or in the Aussie vernacular, Gammy now?
Our motor racing international champions have always struggled for attention over the more adrenaline charged sports like tennis and golf
I remember back in 2001 when someone asked me if there were any Oz Motorcycle World champions. In that year alone there was Troy Corser (WSB), Andrew Pitt (WSS), Jason Crump (Speedway) and Stefan Merriman (WEC). Not to mention Doohan having dominated 500's for the previous 5 odd years (94 to 98).
Mick would be the only one the Today show audience would have heard of.
TP has the charisma and mainstream appeal to put motorcycling on the nightly news for coverage other than a big prang.
Stefan was an ‘employed’ Kiwi but we’ll take him. The 5 ft nothing bloke was a freak.
Toby Price “ripped off”
On face value TP has the moral high ground and can hold his head high. To many of us mere mortals here in Oz he can do no wrong and win, loose or draw he will always have a loyal following because of his honest attitude.
Cause he is almost in a class of his own when push comes to shove. Bambam perhaps is a compatriot but bambam perhaps cannot manage his bike.
Sounds like standard racing fare, whatever the gripes it's a system run by humans and always imperfect for it. I wouldn't dwell on it but start building towards the next one.
Thing is it was/is JBB’s race to lose. “Intervention” was only ever going to effect the 2nd 3rd step so why do it if they left the outcome alone JBB still held a 5min lead going into today’s final stage.
But you still couldn’t bet on bam bam to not...
Maybe the mullet got in his eyes...?
I got TP's feed hot off the key pad at about 8:30 am this morning , it was dripping with absolute astonishment that the organizers had bowed down to the pressure today and done nothing a few days ago when the exact same issue was raised but different interests were pushing the barrow , as always , the people who hold the power base get things their way , and the rest of the world get to complain about it . As a famous Aussie Criminal once said .... Such is life !
Yeah, but he got hung
Just a bump up for Pricey as this rallye season warms up.
First place on Day 1 of the Desafio Ica in Peru but then GPS issues contributed to 9th overall for the three-day mini Dakar.
Slightly disappointing overall result for Toby but I’m sure it’s been an excellent test for the much longer game to play in Peru in January.
Yeah apparently he was riding in a group of 6 and only his didn't validate. Disappointing. It's happened twice now in different rally's.
Maybe he's working on really good odds at Sportsbet...
