Pretty happy with my warm & safe heated jacket. First time I've seen the sun in two weeks! Photographs of "desperation", but hey, I'm enjoying it.

Was very tempted to fire up one of the bikes on Sunday. Still a few too many ice patches on my road though. Where you at in Iowa?

One point to consider: 40 degrees in September is a heck of a lot colder than 40 degrees in February. It's all a matter of context. :evil This concept may elude some folks in the warmer climes.

What with the short days, cloudy, rainy, weather I'm getting more and more impatient to ride again. When I enter the garage to get in the car and go to work I try to avoid eye contact with the bikes. Every once in a while while I'm passing by I do murmur "Soon, I promise.." to them though.

    Good on you.
I just not a fan of the salt, sand and motorists not used to seeing riders in February.
Anxious for gravel up here in the Northeast part of the state

Yeah, I washed it thoroughly this fall, and then doused it in ACF-50. My fasteners look pristine still. I'll wash it in the spring, maybe...

Funny how that works but you are so correct. Probably why snow blowing in shorts and a winter jacket is acceptable in February.

I went out for two hours on Christmas. Up the Iowa side of the river and back down the Illinois side. Looks too cold in your pics.

I went out the last two Saturdays...Ledges State Park on 1st and a short ride to Saylorville Lake last Sat (I'm in NW Des Moines). Was almost too warm on 1st as roads had wet spots and spent nearly as much time thoroughly washing the bike as riding. Colder weather last Sat kept roads dry.

Any trick you use to wash the salt off? I'm going to pick up some Simple Green hoping that reduces the need for a full scrub down.

So you're the one I've seen out and about. Was your second picture with the snowmobiles taken at the bar in Lehigh? Looks like riverside tavern. I'm also located in Ames. I'm going to get out for a ride saturday I hope. Supposed to get up to 50*.

Good on you to get out during this season. I try to ride every day the road doesn't have snow in the path, which is actually a lot of days this year. Do you use any heated gear when temps drop below freezing?
I ride in temps well below zeroF sometimes and only use heated gloves.

Heated grips are pretty much always the first modification when I get a different bike
