LOLOLOL. Hope that didn't actually happen...
I didn’t like all the white and lame 790 graphics so I wrapped mine and put some decals over it.
Nice wrap job. I tried, but couldn't get those complex angles right. It was my first time working with the material. I was also trying to cover ALL the white in the tank fairing, rather than leaving the louver surfaces white like you did. In the end I gave up as it was far too tedious work for me. Since then I believe KTM released that fairing in a dark gray color. Next time I feel like spending some money for aesthetics, it will probably be for those grey fairings and go stealth black and grey, except for the frame, since I don't run the rear covers in favor of the Perun side racks and some tool bags.
It is a bit tricky getting all the angles right, I had a buddy who does wraps help me. We were gonna cover the louvers also but decided to leave them. I think next color change I do I’ll cover them and the rear plastics. I left them on because they hold a bunch of stuff
Want to go full white on my 2020, 790R. Planned to just buy replacement plastics. Costs mount up though. Not so easy to swap with other when you're based in Norway.
You can get enough wrap to do it for around $25 bucks
I'd make such a horrible mess of that
I dislike white on a bike (unless it's an RC8 or VTR-SP2/RC51) so I got the orange 790S front panels and wrapped them with custom graphics.
The back decals just peeled off while pressure washing...
do this next!
I guess I went the other way. I added a "little" bit more color to my RT, the 790 doesn't feel that orange anymore :)
I even have my Yamaha in orange.
@Schussboelie, that's a sweet looking bike! A couple of questions about it:
1. Which tower is that?
2. Whose seat is that? KTM Powerparts here in the USA only has the center insert of the seat in orange, not the side panel like yours
3. Am I correct in assuming that you wrapped the battery cover?
This is the regular R seat, its sides are orange.
They seem to have taken a form follows function idea when creating this bike. Beauty was the last thing on KTMs mind. The graphics don’t help them look better IMO but they do give them an identity.
Under it all, it’s mechanical design is great. The Roland Sands custom 790 Adv shows what it might have been if beauty was higher on the list at the expense of comfort (wind protection), cooling efficiency, and fuel capacity.
One of my complaints with the stock bike is the tiny tail light.
Thanks for the response, but now you've really got me confused. According to the KTMUSA website, both the 790 & 890 Adventure and Adventure R have all black seats as standard. The 890 Rally has the orange panel running down the middle of the seat. I didn't check for the 790 Rally. Under the Powerparts listings for both the 2020 790 Adventure and Adventure R, as well as the 2021 890 Adventure & Adventure R, there are no accessory seat options with orange side panels. The Rally seat option has the orange center panel.
Might one of their offerings in another country have this color scheme?
The stock 790 R seat is not all black as standard. It's black and orange.
Orange seat standard on the 790 R in the US.
This was the day mine was delivered.
Stock seat on the R
I just realized, I still have the cover from my stock seat if you want it. I've got the foam still also. Just a thought.
