That's me: I'll take all the data, and create the "Optimal" and "Most Efficient" trip. I'll have secondary plans in reserve, and all this will have backup / redundent systems to assure accomplishing the mission.

Enjoying the trip, for the enjoyment of it? :huh
    I'd never thought of it...

    It's an interesting idea.
I'll have to subscribe to this thread and study it, to see how things progress.

    Thanks olegmc66. :thumb

    Fabulous!!!!

All of that nice green looks very appealing, compared to the frozen snow and ice here in 'da UP of Michigan.

Yeah, this is great. I love the laid back style & the old trucks. All the different bridges were cool. I'd like to give this a try as a fun prep for the big RTW we're planning.

Well this morning breaks clear. After talking with some local guys tho, one thing is also clear.
I am not going to be able to ride high passesthru Colorado.
One guy was smiling when I asked if one of the passes was clear. Stupid
flatlander I guess he was thinking. BUT, you have to be nuts not to motor
around Colorado if you are here, whether you can make the high passes or
not. So that's what I did for the next 3 days.

Somewhere up there is one of the passes I was asking about :).

    The low lands were ridable.

My daughter talked alot about Moab 4 wheeling, so I think about around in here I decided to go for it.

Decided if I was going to ride around Moab, better get a new knobby.
    Good guys everywhere I went.

Sorry, but I have to post this.
I have never seen anything like this. A junkyard complete with
every old car or truck sorted by year.

    Headed toward Utah.

That mountain in the distance may be Utah.

    Is that a butte?

    Feelin good so far.

Look whats on the other side of that butte.
Car show with lots of bikers.

Great report. Can't wait to see the rest of it. Made the same ride on the same bike, same color even, In Aug, so you are bringing back a lot of memories. I remember the sign in Utah that said biker route. I even met the people that put the sign up. They were going for a ride in a UTV. They told me about all the other people they had met doing the TAT. Real nice people.

    Come on in.

    Way out there.

    Way down there.

    Moab down there somewhere.

    Day Trippers.

Twins, I think this is on a beer I find out later.

Take a side road up to these Red Rocks.

    Hole in the wall?

    Thru the tunnel.

I found a nice campsite right downtown Moab for like $20 a night so decided to
stay here. I ended up staying for 4 days of R and R and laid back exploring.

Will come back tomorrow with some pics the nice stuff I rode around Moab.

I especially liked your shots of Colorado, I felt like I was right along with you, the way you approached the mountains and wound into Moab was cool! I hope we make it to Moab when we pick up the TAT in Arkansas, we have 2 weeks to get home in Austin.
    Cheers!

Very interesting report. Really enjoying your photos.

If you do it again, what size bike would you do it on? Whats your opinion on doing it on an F800 GS.

Bill, Smugmug is pulling the classic bmw act on you. "Bring more wallet." :huh

Think of a garden hose (the server connected to the web) that is leased to you with permission for a certain volume of water (information) allowed to flow through your hose in a given month.

Following the analogy, there are so many of us out here drinking from your hose (reading your story) that your allotment was used up!

I've been there done that myself, and on both sides of that hosting/viewing matter. :thumb
