I just may see you boys on the trail
Leaving from oregon late June, ride the roads through Idaho and Wyoming. Pick up the tat in trinidad and ride it to moab, then most likely roads back to oregon depending on time restraints. I'll be on a KTM 990 baja.

bump bump bump ! june from Georgia willing to meet anywhere nearby in the SE though Tennessee would probably be best no? Anyways if anyone still thinking about this june/july and perhaps wanna hash out some deets or maybe get to together sometime maybe we should set up some kinda google group or phone circuit.

Also anyone in the region want to do a BRP or Smoky Mountain thing I'm probably heading up possibly with a friend sometime this month

Our bikes are being transported by Patriot Express from Alameda CA to Nashville leaving on June 13, arriving in time for our July 1 departure.

After doing more research I've decided to make this a late august/early September endeavor. I plan on hitting the tat near trinidad around labor day. This seems to be a better option for the mountain passes than june.

We flying from CA to Nashville on June 30 and leaving the next day. There are two of us - both Aussies- and Mark, from Nashville who is going to ride only to the Tennessee state line with us. This is earlier than you are planning but if it is of any interest then let me know and we can talk.

nix046 - I'll be several weeks ahead of you on the TAT. I'll likely be coming through Middle-TN around June 10-12 or thereabouts.

I will have a trip report thread here at ADV. Keep tuned as I'll try to accurately assess and report any trail conditions that require re-routing or anything else.

We would be particularly interested in the condition of the passes in CO as we are hoping they will be clear when we arrive about July 10-12

Roger. I'll let you know what I find out. But I highly doubt I can give you any details as I am fully expecting to have to detour around them. CO is anywhere from 105-120% of normal (depending on where you read) on snowfall this year and my TAT trip is a tad early even in a normal to low snow year. But it is what it is... I cannot control this sole window of opportunity to do the TAT. I'll just have to come back to CO for the passes later.

Are you aware of the BushDucks website (http://www.bushducks.com/tripreps/passopen.htm). It might be the best thing I have yet found to detail the conditions in the passes as they evolve. I created a spreadsheet for the last five years for when some of the current and older TAT passes have opened. Of course, they did get more snow out there this year...

    Hi All
    TL;DR
    Montreal>PA>TAT Start>Denver 29 July>TAT End>Victoria BC>Montreal
2016 Africa Twin - Camp as much as possible (ninja camp even more)

I'm also planning on doing it this year starting in Montreal, touching the sea in PA maybe (I spotted a place where I can get the bike to put it's toes in the water) then to the start of the TAT... blat over to Denver, maybe catch some American cheesy sights on the way (like DollyLand). Meet my California mate on his DRZ400 in Denver, smash my new bike up on the rockies. End in Oregon. Blat up the coast to my sister's in Victoria, BC; annoy her for a few days and Iron Butt back to Montreal.

    Sound like a plan?
