One other thing. Keep lots of distance between you and the rider in front on the gravel sections. I'm not talking several hundred feet, I'm talking 1/4 mile. I was constantly bombarded by the gravel dust. I didn't realize how badly until the afternoon when we stopped. I kid you not, I am pretty sure my corneas were scratched. My vision was foggy for all the rest of the afternoon and evening. I almost went to the emergency room to have them checked. I was lucky that my eyes cleared up by morning but I was pulling gravel out them for two days.

From my experience the bridge deck is worn down, slippery and has micro-channels in it. When I started across it in 2015 I was standing on my KLR and allowed the bike to find its way with a loose grip on the handlebars.

If you watch my video linked below you'll notice the on coming traffic hug their side of the bridge to give me a wide berth as the bike was caught in a channel in the center of the bridge as I'm gently nudging the bike's steering by weighting the outside foot peg.

I'll eventually post pictures but it is like a grated bridge. Tiny teeth sticking up. Your bike wanders in a crazy way. Not like normal steel grate bridges.

Came on this site as its the only place on the internet to get up to date info about this trip..(Great bunch of people on here) Robnoxious & I discovered we are leaving Baie-Comeau the same morning, so plan to stay semi-connected all the way through to Newfoundland.

I've heard the bridge south of Goose is a different type of grating and is weirder to ride over, I haven't had the pleasure yet. The Victoria bridge in Montreal is all grating and it feels like it's 5 km's long, definitely a nail biter!
