@jjr66 I hope your test returns negative. Thanks for doing not taking any chances.
The group camping is across from the big red barn and it's called the Orchard Camping just before you get to the RV camping. There is a pay station on the left right after the Orchard. Registration slips and envelopes are in the little building. Pay for your camping there. The wifi password is in there too.
I'm in RV site 25 which is next to the pay station. 1st campsite on the right as you enter the RV area. I wanted power and water to make coffee for everyone so I went with an RV site.
Things didn't turn out as I thought and we won't have the pavilion. They are still having issues obtaining their liability protection due to covid. The great thing about ADVers is that everyone is good at rolling with whatever comes along.
Just find me shade!! You know how much I enjoy the heat...
Rode into Walla Walla today... Pretty much slid off the bike in jello form.
The wind was out to me today! Tar snakes on corners suck! Hoping for clear sailing tomorrow
C U when I C U!
I'll see you when you get here. You might like where I camped last year under a tree.
BTW, the SL350 will be for sale at the BBB swap meet. Need to make room for the next years BBB project. PM if interested.
The weather forecast is for rain Sunday and Monday which means I won't be there since part of the reason for me to attend was to do some bicycling in the area, not in the rain though. I've been to John Day three times this year, twice in the last 2-3 weeks. If I hadn't I would be more inclined to come just for Triple B but I'm just not looking forward to doing that drive again right now. I might change my mind and come tomorrow but not likely. Have a good time in a beautiful area.
The John Day Chamber of Commerce has given us packets of coupons for local businesses so we are going to turn them into a scavenger hunt. Find the business and take a picture of your bike in front of the business for points.
John Day & Cannon City businesses 5 points each
Prairie City businesses 10 points each
Dayville businesses 15 points each
Any businesses visited not in the above 4 towns are worth 20 points
If you go on the Sat. poker run you will be riding through Cannon City & Prairie City - Grab a shot of all the beaters in front of those businesses. Of course you are also encourage to support these businesses while in the area.
Figaros Pizza has a coupon for free pizza delivery and pizza friday sounds like a great idea to me. What do all of think?
jjr66- I wanted to echo Ladybug's sentiments. Here's hoping for a negative test, and thanks for lying low. Beverage of your choice on me next time around.
I'm shooting for a midday arrival tomorrow. Pizza sounds like a good way to support the John Dayiens. John Day-ites? Dayers? I suppose that and many other questions will be answered this weekend.
Slight change in plans, Annsdogs decided to come its been a long while since she has felt well enough to go anywhere. So we will not be arriving till tomorrow morning.
Pizza Friday sounds great.
Hey Ladybug is there a loading ramp or dock at the fair grounds? Trying to avoid bringing trailer this trip. The F700GS can be a pain to get in and out of the truck without one.
Is the swap meet still on. Got a couple of totes of stuff I would like to get rid of. See everybody tomorrow.
So did anyone ride their beater to John Day from their home?
I haven’t seen one.
it’s still on.
Not everyone is here yet but no beaters have ridden in yet. We are getting beaters arriving and looking good.
Nice to meet everyone!
Before this past week I had never been to any moto meet up, and now Marty's got me to two in one week :)
More for the thread!
Here comes the junk.
used to be a pile of gravel and rocks by the end of the grass,,, before you go into the RV area on the left.could act as a loading ramp. I was thinking there was something near the car wash station too, but it's been years and they have changed a lot.
There is a rise in the bank along the river,,back by the trees that might work too.
