forgot to ask a few weeks back.
Where you filling up here on Saturday 17 October before lunch.?
Saw a white XE with sheepskin seat cover at the servo.

me and my mate on the 1290 had pulled up on the other side of the road and I looked at the bike and thought why does it look familiar... we’d pulled over to think about where we were going.
Day one of our 2 weeks and all we had on our map was leave Brisbane, which we had done and now had no idea where we were heading..

At the time I just figured I noticed the bike because I still want one, but the sheepskin seat in your photo above, may have been the clue I missed back then to why it looked so familiar.

I probably saw a gazillion Bm’s and Ktm’s on that trip, but I still remember that trumpy.
    Stupid good looking bike.. :D

got up as high as Cooktown.
    It was hot. Very hot.
We got to the turn to Weipa.
It was 38 and went nah, f that, let’s go back south.

Then we seemed to bump into rain most of the way back.
Still, not too bad, I was just happy it wasn’t Brisbane :thumb

Didn't miss too much on the road to Weipa. A few good turn offs along the way but wrong time of year for up there. The Tablelands are always a good place to explore.

yep, never been higher than Rocky.
We did a few good roads around that way, the temp was better around Tablelands as well.

I’d never done Gillies or been through the Daintree before, so was a tourist and riding holiday with beer in between.

Great ride today Scott and Noel. Thanks! The 900 Rally on road tyres did it okay once the traction control was turned off! ;)
The T7 gets along pretty good and sounds great OEM.

Tried the new pegs out going through Glasshouse today. A bit wet and muddy here and there. The new pegs are a lot more comfortable and make it easier to stand up quickly. No problems with reaching the shifter and rear brake. Very happy with them.

The XC uses the same burbly/growly 1200 cc parallel Twin as the Speed Twin, but in High Torque tune instead of High Power. A dyno-tested 75 rear-wheel horses at 6500 rpm always feels like enough, and 68 ft-lbs torque at only 5000 rpm is even better – all of it built on top of the solid bass laid down by that 270-degree crankshaft.

They can call it a Scrambler if they want to, but this one’s a bike you can ride every day, largely due to the quality of its suspension, excellent seat, and upright ergonomics – all the things we found slightly wanting on the Speed Twin. The Showa fork serves up 7.9 inches of comfortable but controlled travel in front, and a pair of fully adjustable piggy-back Öhlins shocks out back do the same. In spite of the long-travel cushiness, the seat’s only 33.1 inches high, which is not too much for most people. The XC doesn’t quite have the offroad chops of its Scrambler XE sistership, but it’s close enough to that Baja-winning bike to largely eradicate nearly every paved bump you’ll ever encounter.

Came into my feed, maybe you’ve seen it.

looks like the scrambler is a competent swimmer.

Wouldn't like to be getting the big girl out of that. That's a Barnes Auto heavy lift crane job.

I reckon an XC would fit you once the suspension was worn in and rider sag adjusted. Met another owner on Friday who was about 173 cm who was on an XC comfortably.

When I was looking at it seriously, I spoke to a suspension guy and sent all the parts schematics to look at.
Said it was do-able but I’d broadened my horizons and made the mistake of riding the GSA and let go of good looks.
I’d tried the XC with a low seat and it was still a touch tall for a comfortable off-road mind set for me.
If I only wanted it for street the XE would be fine. But off road not so much.
I like to be able to touch the ground for off-road multi day touring.

it still niggles at the back of my mind though.
I keep scanning the big 1200 thread seeing what has developed in exhausts and luggage carrying.
It needs to be my long haul bike. The lack of fairing doesn’t bother me for touring and the range is not too bad.
It’s like a wound that is festering, slowly eating away at me.

and the lack of fairing and overall slimmer design would be better for ventilation in qld’s heat than my GSA.
Best to just bottle up all these thoughts way down deep inside. :lol3
