That is correct. Usually by mid may the ice crossings are closed and the ferries haven’t started to run.

I was looking at that. I'd like to see the Salmon glacier also.

Now that COVID-19 has happened, does anyone have any intel in regards to the probability of heading from the US to Tuk in June? I’m planning a trip with my buddy @Rhombic . I know nobody knows for sure, but I’m curious what those with more inside information might have to say?

It's basically a charitable American event hosted in Dawson City Yukon. Last year they donated the proceeds to a local women's shelter and neonatal program. It's a great event to include it you can. One of their committee members and ADV inmate (The Dick) feature prominently in last years festivities and may be able to offer reliable info on the probability of riding up north in June as that time approaches... https://advrider.com/f/threads/d2d-...ad-read-the-first-post.1423315/#post-39096196

When I recently returned from a trip to British Columbia the border was closed to nonessential travel, I came back on HWY 97 and they were actually stopping northbound traffic a couple of yards before the border to make it easier for those that didn't meet the requirements to turn around. I'm planning a trip to Tuk in May and like you I'm watching my trip north fade away.

May would be a stretch with this going on. You're welcome to join us in August.

I might take you up on that, we we're going to take the car in May but by August I'll probably have a 790 so we can jump on it and chase y'all.

Not sure whether anyone has posted this or not yet, but Tuk has a barricade set up on the road outside of town. If you don't live there or aren't providing some sort of essential service they don't want you in the community. That would apply to every one of us.

I can see isolated communities barring non essential travel until a vaccine is developed. There may come a time where you can not proceed or enter unless your certified as either having the antibodies or evidence of vaccination.

A la Walking Dead, don't be an asymptomatic carrier.

Best way to prove that is a certificate of some sort. Given the circumstances, I don't blame them a bit. Why should they allow themselves to be potentially contaminated by some joyriders who can't prove they are not the modern Typhoid Mary?

If there's a vaccine in the future for COVID, I'd get it.

I see this thread has been quiet lately.

Has anyone heard any new information regarding the reopening of the US-CA border?

Any news on the closure of the road to Tuk?

Nothing new that I have heard other than Alaska has reported it's first day with no new Covid cases.

Until the "reopening" is based on common sense instead of magical thinking there is no rush to reopen the border. Also, the NWT is closed to all who do not have a reason tho live there. They also have a 2 week quarantine for all who go there. June will not happen, August is pretty doubtful. Unfortunately this is the year to explore closer to home.
