Reopening of the NWT was just announced. There will be easing of restrictions but borders will continue to be closed indefinitely to anyone not from the NWT unless you have a plan for a 14 day quarantine.

Is there an exception for people driving through?

No exceptions. You cannot just pass through the NWT along the Dempster. The way you drive in is the way you have to ride out. At this point anyone arriving in the NWT must self isolate for 14 days in either Inuvik, Yellowknife, Fort Smith or Hay River. At this point it appears that these restrictions will be in affect into the summer.

Crossing the border from the US into Canada is not going to be allowed for sometime, I think it's still only essential traffic crossing? We put off our trip to Tuk for now.

Sad news for everyone involved, travelers and especially tourism business owners and their employees.

As July approaches it has become obvious that Canada is going to remain closed. Because of this I will try to do this trip next summer. I've decided to do my alternate trip a d ride the Colorado and Idaho BDRs, passing through glacier and the black hills on our way back to Texas.
I have the gpx files for the BDRs and some for the black hills. If anyone has some interesting routes and points of interest in those areas, I would love to hear about them. Thank you!

Good luck. I thought about doing the TAT but now am resigned to doing trips around NH/ME. I have decided to do my Deadhorse/Tuk trip in 2021.

Couple of us here had a trip planned for the west but looks like it’s not going to work out. Considered a trip through MI and the UP but that lunatic governor up there just extended the state restrictions another 30 days. Maybe next year I can get this trip in.

Yes, Darn the borders will remain closed till that virus gets controlled south of Canada. Rumour has it that there will be a MAJOR spike at something called a Tulsa....is that an electric car? BE SAFE and smart EVERYONE....so we can ride freely again.

Also pertaining to number 6, you will get the current conversion rates if you are using Visa, and I assume Mastercard but don't know that for certain.
