My buddy Dan and I scouted locations at Turtle Cove (and Green Light Cove) near Searchlight, Nevada in February... then Rick and I did a longer route and overnight camping trip a few months later. I edited together some of the footage into this video.

Total mileage for the camping round trip was ~155 miles from Henderson to the coves and then back... Good times + coyotes howling at night that I wish I had of captured.

Looks good. How were the bugs by the water?

I've been thinking of exploring south from Blythe along the Colorado River to the US/Mexico border. Being able to take a dip at the end of a hot ride makes for a pretty nice end of the day.

Thanks! The bugs weren't too bad by the water. Kind of midge-like flies. On the first scout it wasn't warm enough to swim and when we went back the second time we got in so late that we had just enough time to get camp setup before it was too dark. Nothing beats a swim though to be sure. Blythe to border sounds like a fun run. What time of year you planning to do it?

Either late this fall (too late for swims) or next spring. Getting a new hip in the next couple weeks.
