Following on the heals of a successful inaugural Loess Hills Lust ride: https://advrider.com/f/threads/loess-hills-lust-2019.1388346/, @ZLTFUL raised the issue of doing the Trans-Wisconsin ATV Trail. I'm wondering if any others would be interested in such a venture some time yet this year. I know very little about the route, but it certainly sounds tasty.

Any thoughts? What is the best time to go? How long should be set aside for the round trip? Trailer or ride out? My court calendar is starting to fill in for the summer, but I'm sure I could find a week here or there. I have nothing today in August or September. I need to make sure we have at least two or three KTMs to make sure we can carry enough spare parts. :amazon :lol3

    What say you?

We are going in two weeks. The T.W.A.T. is a little over 600 miles. We are going to take a half day and ride to Dubuque, IA (from Chicago. Then will average 200 miles per day for the T.W.A.T. ride. Then 400 miles back to Chicago on day 5. No trailering

I bet I could make something work, providing I don't bend up the mighty wrr too bad in the black hills next week.

Just some personal note taking here:

The route begins at the southern end near Dubuque, which is not far from Dyersville. I've still not been there.

Looking for camping near Dyersville, I find New Wine Park: https://www.mycountyparks.com/County/Dubuque/Park/New-Wine-Park.aspx

The park is like 10 minutes to Field of Dreams and maybe an hour total to Dubuque. The park info says that it has showers.

It looks like the route could be done in five days pretty easily. I plan on setting aside maybe more time just so that I can piss off and take pictures.

I personally want to camp the entire way. I'm tired of carrying camping gear and never using it.

Double check any campsites on a river. We had reservations at one on the Mississippi in Dubuque. Got cancelled because the flooding wiped out the site.

Nope, just going to hit up a variety of trails.

The plan was to truck up, but my buddy from PA said that was the lame way. So we're riding the 250s from CR to Nemo. My buddy mark is trucking his KTM up. A crfl, wrr and a klx will be riding up. We're dumb

Contemplating the TWT over the long 4th of July weekend. Curious about the conditions. We've had a hell of a lot of rain here in Iowa, not sure about WI.

If I do, I'll likley take off on the 3rd from Boone. That means afternoon of the 3rd for a route start. Be done the end of the 5th, and ride back 6th and maybe 7th. I'd like to camp and have all the gear, but conditions could be miserable. Bike would be a well proven DR650 that has been all over MT, ID, and WY moto camping.

Concerns are full campgrounds due to the 4th holiday and too much water. Anyone have a good thread or source for local info?

Somebody may have bashed his water pump housing into a rock in his first day of trail riding. When I'm home I'll post the fix it pics.

Good news is, I'm getting better every day,.

Now if I have any money left for the twat trip...
