I think I was there. I too had never seen this game before. There is a now closed fire hall near me that has a similar setup.

"Water fights" have always been a thing out here in the sticks on the western edge. The little town I grew up in on the border had them every 4th of July. Most of the volunteer fire departments from neighboring towns would send a team. It seems to be on the decline, though.

This game originally started with a barrel on the ground and you had to get a 55 gallon drum passed a line on the ground sort of like soccer and football. It was much more entertaining but hard on the fire fighter that got hit with a 55 gallon drum being propelled at him with water at 200 gpm. So they suspended the drum on a cable. Much safer but a lot less entertaining.

Greg's Meats down in Hampton makes some delicious sausage, but they have a large minimum (30lb sausage minimum requires 20lb venison).

I will have to pass on the Swan this year. I will be busy Sunday preparing all of our stealthy places for Forest Rat hunting :-)

I've seen enough forest rats smeared along the highways the last week. May not be many left. :grim

The last two weeks between St. Peter and Belle Plaine there's been a fresh road kill about every other morning. And just about every one went through every axle of the semi that hit it. Total disassembly. ugh

Good man. Shoot as many as possible. Take a machine gun. And some explosives. And a hat. People aren't wearing enough hats.

I have not used those specifically, but have used very similar from a tackle shop. They are fine for a season of lots of walking. Eventually, the rubber that slides over the toebox of your shoes/boots with break off. When they are new and all the straps work, they are grippy and awesome. When one of the straps break, they are not quite as confidence inspiring. I fell once last year, it was the 1st time in 3 years that I had slipped and fell because of ice. I found my cleats and never had a problem after that. I have a new pair in my truck now.

Dicks Sporting Goods, hardware stores and places that have ice fishing supplies usually have good choices too.
