You guys found any alternative border crossings yet ? hurry up !!!
After some calls I found out that I'll have to book an overnight stay at the Omani hotel (Golden Tulip) or book any other activity at a company there. They will have to submit documents (passport copy, residence visa etc.) to the Omani border minimum 2 days before crossing and only than they'll let you in... :huh
I'll schedule another route for this weekend I guess.
I searched in Dubai for my 8GS but was more difficult than expected...
The guys at Sebsports did never reply on my inquiry. :huh
BMW couldn`t offer either .
2xWheelers (now Touratech ME) did offer. And all they could offer was the Heidenau K60. Nothing else! :huh But I think that's what you're looking for.
I was looking for more off-road: TKC80s. I'm leaving Dubai so didn`t change in the end.
Check with Touratech ME. Alternatively: Did you check with the KTM showroom?
anyone do any good rides recently?
I'm headed your way in March to play in the World Championships of Beach Ultimate. I'm going to have a couple free days after the tournament and would love to get some riding in. I'm thinking some off-road dune riding would be pretty cool. Any recommendations for specific companies to talk to or anyone over fancy going out for a ride with me?
I spent 3 years guiding moto trips in Guatemala, a lot more dirt/mountain riding but I'm excited about getting out on the sand.
Thanks for any tips!

anybody up for a weekend dual sport ride in Oman (Nizwa/Ibri area, mostly wadis off-road gravel tracks) ? I'm planning to take the 990Adv.
Yip. Count me in. I'm in Muscat already. What route you taking?
I'm interested as well!
Rough plan is :
Friday 6th Feb
- Cross into Oman (from Abudhabi and Dubai, depending on where you're driving from) at the Mezyad border around around 8:00AM.
- Turn left towards Buraimi after entering Oman
- Head towards Rustaq via combination of dirt tracks and tarmac
- camp for the night at a wadi near Rustaq.
finding fuel / food will be taken care "on the go".
Saturday 7th Feb
- Rustaq/Wadi Sahtan to Jebel shams
- Climb up to Jebel shams through the beautiful canyon dirt tracks
- Jebl Shams to Bahla via alHamra (I think) - breakfast / lunch accrding to time of the day
- Bahla to Ibri to Al Ain (tarmac) reaching approx. by 3:00PM
Is this all bike ?
I'd be keen on hauling my 500 EXC to Oman at least.
Hi Saif, yes this is an all bike route (the reason i posted earlier that i was gonna ride the 990Adventure for this ride) but i'm sure you can haul the 500 into Oman, drop the trailer and car off someplace, at the wadi saa police station for eg., and head off on the ride with the rest of the group.
Note : Its a 2 day ride with an overnight camping in the wadi/mountains. you'd have to take care of fuel range and camping stuff for the night.
here's a few pics from my ride. The ride report, if you want to see more, is here
Cool pics Vick

Very nice pictures, hope to make a similar ride one day.
I am going to move to Ajman next month. I hope meet UAE riders. :)
UAE Riders, where are you? :)
Sat in an air conditioned room I would imagine
Waiting for the temp to drop below 40'c!!! Planning a midweek blast to Oman Sept 12/13. I work shifts so generally plan trips midweek. Only just getting back into this after a year of mainly desert riding... well crashing to exact, given up on that, far to dangerous!!
Anyone with a Yam S10 from Dubai?
