I ran into an issue while installing the electrical system for my tank. I wired the switch and pump per the instructions. Once I had all the electrical connections done, I turned on the key for the bike to check that everything would work properly. As soon as I turned the key on, the pump started pumping. I tried pushing the button, but could not get the pump to stop. Finally, I had to disconnect the battery to get the pump to stop.
I double checked and I did connect the orange wire to the red/green of the accessory outlet per the instructions. The other connections were pretty obvious.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

I already received a response from Markus on my issue. It seems the XRay equipment used to scan overseas shipments likely messed up the electronic switch. He's sending me a new one right away. Great service, Markus!!! Thank you!!!

Interesting. I had a similar problem though it was more intermittant. Some days the switch worked, some days not. At present I have a non-timed switch replacement.

Hi Markus/. The dealer in Tucson wants one. He said he emailed you but never heard back. I may have given him than old email?? I will pm you with his email. Still loving the tank. Did a Baja run in September and used in many times. I am going to replace the breather hose, mine is showing symptoms of rot, may be due to overfilling it ? A minor detail. Damn fine addition! Mike

    Guys,
I'm looking for a place to buy a Facet Fuel Pump but NOT the common types.
    I'm struggling.
Can be in Europe or North America.
I want Positive Shutoff as well as a Check Valve.
And more than 12" dry lift.
    I want one of these:
    40257 (preferred) 40176, 40177 or 40178.

I have one of Markus's tanks.
Markus provided 40185 which has only the check valve.
It works, but I want to completely isolate the tank (I get a bit of flow both ways).

I mounted mine as suggested next to the top frame bar and that means it's about 12" high.
So that means Model 40171 isn't a good choice: Max Dry Lift of 12".

I tested my setup and fuel can flow INTO the tank as well as OUT of it (even with a check valve).
I want to know that the tank stays full (or empty) as my choice.
I realize I can add a manual valve, but that's last resort.
I could also move the pump down and put by the airbox/behind alternator to reduce the dry lift height: but I want to use that space for something else.

So if you know of a good distributor I can try.
I've tried a few already and they cannot help.
    Thanks,
    Alan

40171 Facet pump with check valve is part # 05-40171 paid $44.30 usd 9/08
    filter # is 479735

Don't know about the positive shut off valve model, but they stock a lot of Facet fuel pumps.

    Markus-

I see on your website http://www.gs-equipment.de/page8.php you have pictures of your machine with a fill spout located at the rear fender, aft seat. Do you sell the tank with this configuration? Looks very nice. Thanks in advance.

Apologies if this has been covered before - 30 pages of thread too much to comb!!
