Any critical changes to these routes since 2012?
If you check them out, please report back.
I'm going to pick up my first dirt-worthy dual sport tomorrow...a 2007 KLR 650. I can't wait to try these trails!
I am considering doing the HO-CAT next Saturday on a 1200GSA and taking a NOOB with me on his F800GS. Am I biting off too much? How difficult is the route?
I haven't ridden it in a few years, but it's just dirt and paved roads; should be easy. Tell him to keep his weight back and stay on the throttle in any deep sand. Have fun!
Hit part of the trail with a few other guys today. There were a few bad mudholes but most of the roads we hit were in good shape!
Reading this thread has gotten me motivated to try to create a loop out of the francis Marion forest roads. I’m sure there’s a way to connect this mess of spaghetti.
Did a portion of it last weekend with a fellow advrider. We tied it into some dirt roads on the other side of the Edisto.
Did you meet the kid wheelinin the mommyvan?
Ha nope. Saw some people wheeling in a side by side and they also had a little tractor which was kind of random.
Some pictures of the Ho-Cat from a while back.
Who wants to ride the whole thing this winter? I’d be down to make a weekend out of it by taking the Hocat to the Meow up to Columbia, camping out and then back to Charleston.
@ssbogger we could get down with that. We rode half the HOCAT today. Don't be surprised if I ask to try that 690...
I'll be sure to post up here when planning to do it. Probably won't be before the end of the year. Possibly early January.
@ssbogger Sounds great, would be a nice run before Broxton. And Season 4 just dropped, woo-hoo!
Keep me in the loop, I'd be down for a multi-day ride & camp.
I uploaded to YouTube segments of our recent HOCAT Ride, and will embed them here if that's OK to the OP. @RJE
Rode a lot of the HOCAT this past wkend with @blk-betty. Several of the roads were gated off as shown by the red circles (from what I can remember).
