Turnsleft and I wheeled the KLX's up the
South Skagit hwy, stopping at Concrete for
fuel, to the Upper Finney Road. A nice
    day for an Adventure

after hooking up on FS 18 we headed towards Darrington and the Slide
    that IpponDuro had reported.
    There it was

scoping it out it looked doable for the light weights

someone had proceeded us and made some trail changes which we enhanced with the pruning saws

    on the other side

we found we weren't going to Darrington this way

so we headed on back and found the creek at the slide had changed color. Another disturbance up stream

    the views were grand today

    another spur, another slide

    another spur , more snow

turnsleft was enjoying it as was I

he found some fossils while I waited ahead.

I turn back knowing he didn't crash and he showed them to me. Thanks for the ride Amigo! :clap

Tom and I left the South Skagit P&R around 10:00 heading for fuel stop in Concrete. After we fueled we took off for Upper Finney.

We turned off on 18 trying to make Swede Heaven and Oso. So much for plans. We got through the slide Travis reported but got stopped by snow
    as Tom reported.

I don't know how I got in front of Tom, anahow I stopped to take a picture and got one of Tom stopping to snap a few.

It was a bit cool in some spots. I would like to see one of those snow
    slides happen once.

I seen this on the way up and wanted to get a picture of it on the way back down.

This rock was right along side the other one.

And about twenty feet down the road was a bunch of little/smashed up
    rocks with these in them.

Looking up it looks like they came from there. That black seam looks interesting. Next time I'm going to climb up and have a boo at it.

Fun day in the woods Tom, we will do it again.:deal

    Howdy Tom,

Would the Ural make it past the slide, is it wide enough for me to give it a try, how deep was the snow?

    Hi Dave,

It's not Uralable. The trail is about 18"" at the narrowest, The snow could be 3' deep. The snow is at the
? Pass and we were several 100 yards from the top. There was a log under the snow at one point. Serious work ahead to make it navigable.

    Howdy Tom,

Well...........I need a bit more then 18 inches of trail width, the snow all depends on firm it is the depth really doesn't matter. Thanks for the information, I have been thinking about hitting 18 from the Swede Haven side.

I'm wondering what it looks like from that side. Maybe in a couple of weeks with our sizzling weather it will be passable through the snow. "Summer doesn't start until after the Fourth of July!" keep us informed Dave. :deal
