My Ural made me say a lot of things that could not be posted here.
It was a ton of fun but the most unreliable poorly built machine I have ever owned.

IMHO, the more reliable a bike becomes, the more sanitized it tends to be, the more like a car it is.
It helps to be a little crazy if you are to enjoy motorcycles, foil heads just take that to a whole new level.
Then again, I don't think I've ever seen a Ural rider who has not had a huge grin on their face or someone who has encountered one who has not wanted to go for a ride. In life the greatest joy is rarely found by the easiest path, a little struggle is good for the soul :)

From a guy who came in the restaurant where I was having lunch and asked people who belonged to the rig until he got to me:

"What the hell is that? I thought it was the finest BMW restoration I'd ever seen, then I saw the disc brakes and thought, well, maybe it's a resto-mod, then I noticed the throttle bodies and thought, no, no one would do that. Now, what is it?"

We left the tank badges off of our 2015 M70 Retro just to cause that kind of havoc.

Had a pearler once when out on my 650 Ural.

Guy asked, "Is that a Norton or a BSA ?"

    Me, "Neither, mate".

    Guy, " Well, it's easy to get confused.....it's a Matchless, isn't it ?"

Me, "Nope, it's not one of them either".

I left him scratching his head while I reversed myself back into sanity. :D

My favorite quote-"95% of the Urals sold in the U.S. are still on the road-the rest made it home".
50,000 km on my '12 Patrol, only only needed rescue once due to a broken shifter return spring.Diagnosed instantly by my buddy BomberDave who used to ride beemers.Even the weak spots were copied,I guess.
edit:I forgot to say that I fixed it myself with some phone/internet help from Gobium. Thanks again Van

"Can William have a ride too?"

From my friends talking about their 5 year old son on a day where the high temperature was actually 10 degrees F. His older sister already had a ride. Granted, our top speed was like 30 mph, but fun was had by all.

He was probably referring to the valve stem caps he had lifted off the Ural for his own bike...

From random stranger at a gas station in small town Indiana:

Q: What kind of bike is that?
    A: A Ural
    Q: Where are they made?
    A: Russia
Q: Why would you buy that?

    Had another good one yesterday.

A guy was stood gawping at my 650 Ural.
As I approached he pointed at my jerry can....and asked what goes in it.
( Huh ? Why would you ask that anyway ? )
I told him that seeing as it's a Russian bike, the jerry can is full of Vodka.

He looked at it again, tapped it, said "Oh, right", and walked away. :D :D
