From my son, trapped on the other side of the child gate, to keep him out of the garage while I was working:

Son: "Daddy, what are you working on?"
Wife interrupting before I could answer: "He's using his hammer, so that means he's working on the Ural..."

I heard a hack driver explaing the different types to a non driver one time. "Well you have the HP's built for high speed, super sleek and high tech. Then you have the adventure hacks built to go anywhere in the world. Then you have the farm implements, the Urals."

Today grocery shopping and trying to maintain social distancing in the parking lot:

Female shopper: "that's cute, can I take a picture of it?"

Me: "it's never been called cute before...."

    Female shopper: "Its pink!"

Me: "it is vintage desert cammo!"

Pink.... When the 1st Cavalry Division was preparing to deploy to Saudi Arabia for the first Gulf War they had to hurriedly paint their tactical vehicles in desert sand. They got the paint formula wrong and ended up loading many pink Abrams tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles on the ship to SA. Their troopers were not happy.

The SAS used to paint their Land Rovers pink from the late 60s to the mid 80s for use in the desert. Affectionately known as pink panthers, there are more now than ever served in the SAS. A genuine one is highly collectable.

My late uncle Joe was USAAF ground crew for a B-25 unit in Italy and North Africa during WW2.
About fifteen years ago I showed him a picture of a pink looking B-25 I'd seen at an air show and asked about the color. He took one look at the numbers and said"Hey,that's my old unit!!".That was pretty cool, but he said the color didn't start out as pink,it was supposed to be light brown or tan to match the dessert but it didn't take very long for the sun to fade it to pink.Apparently the crews weren't fond of it but they had lots more important things to worry about at the time.
