So it basically just floats there? Only held on by the bolt through the axel? I'd want some gear clamps or something on it.

It actually came with self tapping screws so that you could drill your swing arm to attach it but I chose to use a hose clamp.

I modified this so that I could use a hose clamp.

A couple of years ago I got to ride a friends well set up CR250 ice racing bike. It was a hoot to ride. There isn't any racing within 200 miles of me but I was thinking of getting a bike to play around on seeing that the lake is almost perfect this year. Any recommendations on what used bike to look for? 2 stroke, 4 stroke, e-start, EFI or so forth? I have plenty of race experience, racing in the US road racing circuits for 6 years. Ive been cruising Kijiji but there is nothing local for sale. Thanks guys. If a decent CR250 came up for sale I think I would grab it.

Front brakes are disabled or removed for oval racing. I believe in the competition series it is mandatory.

We have a couple practice tracks plowed right now too. This one is going to be used for sxs races later in February, it is about 6km long.

Found some good ice today. First time out this year. Down to one bike as I'm in the process of rebuilding my friend's 530 motor. This a large lake, that is normally very rough, but today it was near perfect alone its south shore. Sooo good to get back on the bike. It was 8ยบ Canadian. What a day.

Wheelie about to go wrong. This is another friend of mine, and his second time on ice. We had a lot of fun, despite not having a plowed track.

A Zero electric bike came out and did the 4hr endurance ice race out on by the Pembina Dirt Riders Association here in Alberta. They had to come in and pit to change batteries every 3 laps (11km laps) but made it right to the end. Kinda interesting to see.

Here is my start and first few laps. 3 (only ) of us were in the 2hr solo class. Since we start last on the grid we get to pass the quads and novice riders starting about 7 and a half minutes into the video. Beautiful day +2 out and an awesome track that was fast and 11km long.

Well this past weekend our season began. Got out on Saturday and Sunday. Ice was about 8" and like glass. Had to drill holes and stick branches in to get a track started, once a few laps had been made it was easy to find the path, but the first few were a little tough.

Unfortunately Saturday was a little warmer and made getting off the ice a little more difficult, which lead to needing a new spot for Sunday's ride. But we managed to figure out a system to remove all 6 bikes successfully. [IMG]

The weather for the next week of so should put a nice resurface on the ice and be good to go again by end of January. Can't wait.
