I can assure you a lot of people are discovering their own backyard these days. I know the trick of weekdays and early morning but the parks were crammed with people.

Very cool. When I got there, the whole area had a lot of smoke from Yosemite/Tahoe area. Did look very cool.

congrats SAN for completing an epic ride and thanks for sharing it with us.....:thumb lots of miles and beautiful landscapes; this should inspire us to do a similar ride. too bad, winter will be here soon and most of us have to wait for the next spring or fall. hopefully, covid will be over next year and you will be able to travel overseas again. where to next?

"Not to worry, someone noticed I was there and came out to pump my gas.
Well actually, remove the lock, hand me the pump then watch me pump my gas.
It's Oregon. People are apparently too dumb to take the fuel pump nozzle off the gas pump by themselves."

I get so tired of reading comments like this.
Please read my comment and pass it along.

Back in the day when logging got shut down in the spotted owl era, people lost a lot of jobs in Oregon.
Job loss was wide spread and touched many lives.

New jobs had to be made for the unemployed.
One of the jobs that is still employing many in Oregon is the gas pump jockey.
We Oregon citizens, voted in this job, and are still willing to pay a few cents on a fuel fill up to support our neighbors.

So, be kind to the Oregon gas pump jockeys, and note a lot more gals now days have this job.
When you travel thru Oregon, you are helping them keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.
Think about that when you see people living in tents along the roads.

The original plan was Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and St Petersburg but I think I'll do Canada and visit my family instead. This way I can see the Canadian side of Glacier National Park.

Thank you for the explanation. I visited Portland last month for the first time and I thought I just visited a "full" service gas station.

Truly spectacular up there. I've been all over BC and ON. Baniff, Lake Louise are both beautiful places. Last year i rode the entire Selkirk Loop and a couple of it's spur roads. :{)

A work mate and I took a rental car from Oregon to Semicon West Convention in San Francisco last century.
We get a fill up in the City and both of us so use to the Oregon gas jockeys filling up the car, we just sit there and we get a full service.
We got the evil eye from a 60 year old lady pumping her own gas with a $1000 suit on.
    Still remember, "That Look".
