Thanks for that. I sent the photo to a bird specialist who thought it might be a very young sharp shinned hawk. It was a beautiful bird, and the closest I have ever been to a wild hawk.
Cool stuff like this is one of the perks of being on a bike, as I probably would not have noticed him had I been in a car.

See the housing that the vertical turning shaft is mounted to?

I've seen the Sharpie's before, the tail tells me the one you saw is a Red Tail, also the face.. but again, cool to see..
I find it difficult to do bird watching while on 2 wheel, because I try to pay attention to the road.. so in my truck, I see many more, and because I don't have a roaring exhaust, can get close and look, without spooking them.. I had a mating pair of Bald Eagles, that lived behind my house when I lived in Va., (they had 2 hatchlings, I assume both survived), and they would often fly along above me on my way down the road, looking for small animals my bike would spook out from the berm areas, then watched them swoop and grab them up in my rearview mirror.. below is the male, sitting on a deer carcass.. what you can't see is the circle of Turkey Buzzards, like 15, surrounding the carcass.. I was to intent on getting a good pic at the time, to get "the big pic".. spent about 15 minutes shooting those photos.. never bothered the Eagle. Now, sorry for the hijack, back to Tag.. ride safe.

Near Boston MA on the bike. 150 miles from Nutzy. Probably not going after it.

I just moved up to CT from western PA and now I'm suddenly close to Nutsy again... This warm spell is making me think about a long day trip up there to get Nutsy moving.

Some NH roads are marginal at best in the summer; be sure your dental fillings are all in tight if you are thinking of riding them when the frost is still in the ground:)

I am planning on getting him, in the next week if things go according to plan. I know EXACTLY where he is. Providing the weather cooperates and life events don't disallow, he is mine.

I almost didn't find it. I searched for quite a while and didn't find it. I wasn't sure of its size and that magnet holds REALLY WELL.

    Anyway. Here it is.

    And for the bonus:

Now I have to place it. I know its been dormant for a year so I am not sure where I'll place it. Keep watching.

I can deal with the bumps compared to dodging 6-12” cracks in the road in Vermont
