Maybe get a waterproof bag of some kind for the plane and ask steward/stewardesses for some ice while on the flight.

We spent years perfecting handwriting at school and then spent years on keyboard and touchscreen...so handwriting has taken backseat haha

I didnt take sanskrit too...it was offerred as optional language between 8th a d 10th grade.

Our primary language and script till 10th grade was in native marathi language. Except english language textbooks which were obviously in english ;)

Kiran arrives THIS Friday Afternoon! He will stay in Claremont 91711 for a few days. Loose plan is to ride to Newcombs on Sunday, perhaps Chapparal on Saturday. Maybe a little fire and food Saturday night at Villa Maria Sanitarium (the tuckers)

If anyone is interested we will have a meet and greet Saturday night 13th August (this Saturday) at 'the tuckers' Claremont Los Angeles. Looking at maps, drinking a little, bragging, telling stories, scaring Kiran. Tent space. Early Sunday we hope to ride Angeles Crest to Newcombs for breakfast and more scary stories.
This is a trip of a lifetime for Kiran. First time riding in USA. First time on his own BMW R1200GS.
If you just want to stop by and pat his back or shake his hand that's cool. We could sticker bomb his bike.
Kiran from India this weekend click on this, that's what she said.

Won't make the meet and greet in CA, but wish you a great adventure. If you make it to Missouri (St Louis or Lake Ozark) feel free to stop by. Contact me through here or the tent space map.

I heard yesterday that CalFire has been closing Highway 1 at night due to wind conditions. I am not really an expert, but I think this may be because of the change in wind direction. During the day, hot air over California rises, so the wind is coming inland from the sea. At night when the land cools down, the air falls and forces air back out to sea (maybe). This could cause the fire to move toward Highway 1.

Kiran, it sounds like your best chance to ride up Highway 1 to Monterey will be during the day when the road is open. So far, the closure has been from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. If you leave fairly early in the day, you should be able to make it past the fire before night.

Isn't there some sort of belief that the four elements are earth, wind, fire, and water? This picture looks like Big Sur right now.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

Even though I ride at night on known roads in India, I do not have any plans to ride at night in the USA. Also from starting point to San jose is just first week/rather first day of plan so would not do it at all.

    Wish it gets better soon.

Sorry to hear Big Sur's in danger. That's an awesome, though very expensive, place.

The closure is only the section near the fire, as far as I know, so you could take your time coming up through Malibu, Morro Bay, etc., then plan to ride through the closure area during the day when the highway is open.

If you choose to avoid it, I fall back to my recommendation of Nacimiento-Fergusson Road.
