Mount Diablo is a little farther West and more of a scenic then efficient ride but supposed to be awesome (especially when the hillsides are green, that's a month or two out of the year) lots of twisties and nearly no traffic other then motorcycles

    Best advice here:

"I don't think you will have any problems but it's always important (and this goes for anyone traveling anywhere) to be aware of the mood or attitude of the people around you...situational awareness. If you smile, say hello and talk extra slowly, you will probably get smiles and a polite positive attitude directed back at you. If you do encounter bad or aggressive behavior, be polite and apologetic and remove yourself from the situation smoothly and quickly. These occurrences are very uncommon so don't worry about it. Just make a mental note of it now...how will I react if I find my self in a confrontational situation?...and then put it in the back of your mind."

So true with any country. Just watch both Long Way Around shows last week, and they practiced this concept very well, with very good results.

Started reading his Epic Ride, got diverted over here, and, well, that was my evening....:)

Hope he reconsidered Tucker's advice about seeing more of Colorado. I'm heading down to Taos from Golden in a few weeks and taking the scenic route along the million dollar highway.

Watching on a daily basis, you don't realize what a huge trip that was. You covered an extremely large amount of miles!

I'm glad it all worked out, and you got to see so much.
