FYI - we are a ways from Nice. We avoided all big crowds during the local fireworks opting to watch from our balcony what we could. Not letting it change our trip much, worrying about this stuff, but just trying to be smart. We may have gone to a Euro Cup game too but didn't like the crazy crowds... Be back in Heidelberg in about a week!

Distilling the Cognac produces this black growth on the walls of the distillery. They all have it. This is some of the walls of Otard:
Otard has caves for storing barrels in like dungeons below the river level so it is a high humidity and perfect temperature year round for aging.
